Senior Accountant

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced temporary Senior Accountant to join our finance team for seven months. The successful candidate will be responsible for various accounting tasks, processes, and reporting, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and local, state, and federal regulations. This is a remote position and will report to our VP of Finance.

What You'll Do

• Assist with the month-end close process, including preparing monthly account reconciliations and analysis, preparing flux analysis, and communicating with department leads to resolve variances
• Conduct regular audits of payroll records to ensure accuracy and completeness
• Record payroll, 401k contributions, and accrual journal entries in the general ledger
• Prepare and process payroll reporting for workers compensation and other ad-hoc payroll reporting
• Review and approve employee expense reports weekly, confirming compliance with company policies and accuracy of submission
• Record stock compensation and internally developed software expense journal entries, verifying compliance with relevant accounting standards 
• Prepare and maintain third-party request listings (audits, tax, compliance, etc.)
• Assist in the development and implementation of new procedures to enhance the workflow of the Finance team
• Other accounting, audit support, and financial analysis activities as needed

Who You Are

• 4+ years of general accounting experience, with a focus on payroll and expense reporting
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP and payroll processes
• Self-starter with the ability to prioritize various responsibilities
• Experience with accounting and payroll systems 
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field

The Senior Accountant role is remote.

The base salary for this position will be $85,000 - $105,000, but the actual compensation may vary based on the candidate’s skills, qualifications, and location. The Black Tux defines compensation plans using market data aligned with comparable companies at a similar stage and size as ours.

This position also qualifies incentive-based compensation which may include a performance-based bonus and/or incentive stock options. The Black Tux also offers unlimited PTO on top of generous company holidays, including a winter break at the end of each year.
