AffiniPay is looking for a Senior Accountant to join our growing team. The Senior Accountant plays a key role in the month-end close process and will report to the Accounting Manager. The ideal candidate will have a solid accounting background, comprehensive understanding of GAAP and experience working in a high-growth, fast-paced environment. This senior team contributor will mentor Staff Accountants and other junior staff on the team, as well as have an opportunity to scale accounting tasks through automation and/or process improvements.

What You’ll Do

  • Record complex monthly accounting transactions that may include any of the following: revenue, cost of goods sold, payroll, commissions, fixed assets, prepaid expenses and/or capitalized software tracking
  • Review journal entries prepared by junior accountants
  • Prepare both balance sheet and P&L reconciliations
  • Assist with preparing monthly financial reporting
  • Analyze financial statement information in conjunction with FP&A and explain/resolve variances
  • Create and maintain complex schedules in Excel and software platforms to support accounting functions
  • Understand the daily activities of the department and aid in coordinating and managing the period-end close process to ensure deadlines are met
  • Train and mentor junior accountants
  • Ensure procedures are in accordance with GAAP requirements and accounting department policies and procedures
  • Document internal controls and processes for accurate and timely financial reporting and make recommendations on improvements
  • Assist with financial and tax audits by providing supporting schedules and documentation as requested
  • Assist with drafting technical accounting memos
  • Perform ad hoc analysis and develop or recommend accounting methods and procedures as required
  • Lead efforts to automate processes by developing a deep understanding of source data and end user needs; work across departments to gather data for implementation, design and oversight of processes
  • Lead special projects as assigned
  • Perform other duties as assigned

About You

  • 6+ years accounting experience (a blend of public and industry accounting experience preferred)
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting and/or Finance required
  • Outstanding problem-solving skills; “can-do” attitude and resourcefulness combined with ability to propose solutions
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent leadership and project management skills
  • Exemplary analytical and communication skills
  • Superior customer service skills with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience with system integrations
  • Experience drafting technical accounting memos and researching FASB guidance preferred
  • Solid ability to work both independently and collaboratively with other departments.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment; ability to pivot as business priorities shift
  • Experience with Workday strongly preferred
  • Experience with data visualization software such as Domo and Adaptive highly desired
  • Advanced Excel skills

  • CPA preferred

Additional Information

The minimum annual salary for this position is $75,000 and the maximum is $100,000. The salary range for performing this role outside of the US / Austin / California may differ.  AffiniPay is committed to offering competitive, fair and commensurate compensation and has provided an estimated pay range for this role. Actual compensation may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and education.
