Our Accounting team is committed to ensuring accurate and compliant finance practices. We partner with all internal Karat teams and support clients throughout the world by prioritizing operational excellence and consistency.
What you will do
As a Senior Accountant - Payroll and Commission at Karat, you will be responsible for processing the company's payroll and commission, ensuring overall compliance and accuracy.
  • Own full cycle Payroll and Commission Accounting including preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, and account analyses as it relates to company payroll, payroll tax, benefits, and bonus plans ensuring compliance with company policy, GAAP, and internal controls while focusing on strategies to reduce the time it takes to close the accounting period.
  • Own end to end Commissions process and coordinate with stakeholders to calculate, submit for approval and payment of sales commissions and performance-based bonuses.
  • Partner with cross functional teams including People Operations and Accounting to implement and maintain proper procedures for ensuring compliance with company policy and internal controls.
  • Own, manage and make process improvements for all payroll system interfaces including Paylocity, Xactly and Guideline (401k).
  • Participate in and support company initiatives such as software implementations, process upgrades and others.
  • Complete special projects, document processes, cross train to support team members, ad hoc reporting or other general duties as assigned.
  • Prepare supporting documentation for internal and external audit requests related to payroll, payroll tax returns, benefits, commission, and bonus plans.

The experience you will bring
  • 5+ years of experience working in payroll accounting, business accounting, or finance.
  • Knowledge of payroll and accounting systems including Paylocity, Xactly and Sage Intacct.
  • Knowledge of GAAP preferred.
  • Experience working at a high growth start up or technology company preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

This is a full-time , salaried position. Immigration sponsorship is not available.
Karat's HQ is based in Seattle, Washington, but we are open to remote candidates for this role (within the U.S.).
