Senior Autonomy Research Engineer

The Role:
STR is seeking a Research Engineer to join our tight-knit, growing Autonomy team. We design, develop, and demonstrate software to control distributed autonomous robots. The software ranges from early prototypes to fielded systems and will revolutionize the way that heterogeneous teams of autonomous robotic systems (e.g., drone swarms) assist humans in accomplishing shared objectives.
This hybrid position is based out of STR's 3500 sq.ft., state-of-the-art Autonomy lab, which is located steps from STR's Woburn, MA corporate headquarters.
We are seeking experienced candidates in search of impactful Research and Development (R&D) opportunities.
Qualifications:

• PhD or equivalent experience in Computer Science or related technical field
• Experience conducting R&D using Java or Python
• Experience using autonomy frameworks (e.g., ROS) or game engines (e.g., Unity, Unreal Engine)

• U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain a Security Clearance
• Ability and willingness to travel approximately once per month for field experiments

Even Better:

• Experience with:
  • Networking for distributed systems
  • Common CV/ML frameworks and tools, e.g., Yolo, PyTorch, TensorFlow
  • DevOps or CI/CD tools such as Gitlab
  • Robotic systems, e.g., small Unmanned Aerial Systems or Unmanned Ground Vehicles
