Senior AWS DevOps Engineer

Do you like to solve meaningful problems focused on system efficiency, complexity, and scalability? STR is looking for a Senior AWS DevOps Engineer to help build cutting-edge command, control, and autonomy software and to improve our DevOps processes. This role will be hybrid, with the balance of in person vs. remote largely left to the individual.

The Role

• Work as a member of Agile/SCRUM software teams to design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines utilizing Gitlab, Jenkins, or other CI/CD systems.
• Serve as subject matter expert on software team for CI/CD into Kubernetes and related cluster deployment environments.
• Configure, deploy, and monitor Kubernetes and related cluster deployment environments.
• Support Amazon Web Services (AWS) toolsets in an unclassified environment.
• Help adapt, implement, and deploy coordinated system in containerized deployment environment using, e.g., Docker.
• Maintain multiple CI/CD environments at multiple classification levels where AWS is not available.
• Configure CI/CD environments for application performance, security monitoring, and alerting.
• Act as a point person with corporate IT to ensure that infrastructure toolsets are configured, maintained, reliable, and kept up-to-date in compliance with DoD standards.
• Advocate for and educate engineers on DevOps fundamentals while helping to implement solid software development processes.

Who You Are

• BS in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related technical field
• 5+ years of experience with CI/CD tools (Gitlab, Jenkins) and pipeline automation
• 3+ years of experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud), and automated provisioning tools (e.g., Ansible, Chef, TerraForm)
• 3+ years of experience with containerization technologies, e.g., Docker and Podman
• Experience deploying, and monitoring Kubernetes clusters and pod configurations
• Experience with Kubernetes management solutions such as EKS and Rancher
• Familiar with service-oriented software architectures (e.g., Micro services)
• Familiar with Kafka and related infrastructure services
• Organized, detail-oriented, and with an ability to work both independently and collaboratively
• Comfortable in a fast-paced operations environment
• Motivated collaborator and effective communicator to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Ability to obtain a Security Clearance

Even Better

• Active Security Clearance at the Secret or Top Secret (TS) level
• MS in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related technical field
• Experience in:
  • full web-service stack, including databases, logging, and monitoring
  • project tracking tools such as Jira
  • designing, deploying, and monitoring Kafka clusters
  • deploying and maintaining artifact repositories (such as Nexus, Artifactory)
  • deploying and configuring static and dynamic code analysis tools (such as SonarQube, Coverity).
  • leading teams in an Agile/SCRUM software development process
