Senior Backend Engineer (Remote)

What you will be doing

• Working with a small, tight-knit team to develop backend systems that enhance and accelerate our partner integrations, internal tooling, and enhance our enterprise member experience
• Solving exciting and challenging distributed systems problems to ensure our systems can serve billions of API requests per month
• Develop, design and maintain backend systems focused on achieving our company mission of supporting users on their journey towards a happy, healthy family for everyone.
• Taking on tasks of higher complexity that be may less defined, involve multiple systems and require your leadership to help define and deliver the technology solutions
• Actively participate contribute to reviewing teammates' work via code reviews in a way that improves the team's shared understanding of the code and improves our technology

Requirements

• 5 years of experience with distributed systems across multiple systems and teams
• Top-notch software engineering skills and relevant experience in designing and building performant backend systems
• Prior engineering experience, ideally utilizing PHP (7.4+ and Symfony), Ruby on Rails or Python, to build distributed backend systems
• Fluent in engineering best practices such as testability and object-oriented design with the ability to incorporate these into technical solutions
• Track record of contributing to product and business direction, collaboration across different teams, and delivering solutions that meet expectations and are pragmatic
• Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to convey information concisely to technical and non-technical stakeholders
