About the role:Underdog is in a critical phase of growth. We almost tripled the size of the company over the last eighteen months and are preparing to launch the most ambitious product in our history. You will work directly with our VP, Business Operations and executive team on mission-critical, cross-functional projects to accelerate our growth in becoming the largest sports gaming company in the U.S.
The Business Operations team builds the operational infrastructure of our remote-first company, solves exceptionally hard problems, and cultivates its leaders. You'll become a trusted partner across all areas of our business by leading data-driven analysis and by bringing structured thinking to support key strategic initiatives. This position is high-stakes and high impact.
Why this role is unique:- Work directly with the co-CEOs, CTO, and executive team. You’ll have unique access to many of the most important decisions being made at the company.
- Get your hands dirty operationally, digging into some of our toughest problems.
- Be part of a 10X path by helping us go from a 9-figure to 10-figure company over the next 3 years.
- Coaches managers in strategic goal setting and performance management through structured 1:1s, OKRs, and team KPIs/pipelines/dashboards.
- Serves as an internal consulting group, solving complex, often cross-functional problems, and helping leaders tackle critical operational issues within their most at-risk and highest leverage projects.
- Implements tools, frameworks, and processes that bring structure to decision making, meetings, and asynchronous collaboration.
- Structures leadership, board, and team meetings and business reviews, company-wide internal communications, and offsites.
- Assesses, implements, and manages knowledge management, intranet, performance management, project management, and collaboration platforms.
- Incubates early teams, new functions and businesses that don’t fall neatly within current company structure.
- Acts as a sounding board and trusted advisor to other executives, providing strategic guidance and constructive feedback on topics such as operational improvements, organizational design and expansion, and growth opportunities.
- Works to identify our largest existential risks and builds plans for appropriate mitigations.
- 5+ years of experience as a startup founder, in operations or strategy at a fast-growing startup, or at a top-tier management consulting firm.
- Energized by tackling complex, challenging, often ambiguous problems; not afraid to roll up your sleeves and execute.
- Low ego and works well with a wide range of personalities; have the ability to influence and be collaborative at all levels of the organization without the need for direct authority.
- Naturally analytical. Exceptional ability to draw key insights and drive business decisions from diverse datasets (quantitative and qualitative; financial, operational, and competitive).
- Polished, executive-level communication skills - verbal, written, and presentation - with the ability to synthesize strategic insights in an actionable and compelling manner.
- Structured thinker with impeccable business judgment. Ability to execute with conviction with limited guidance.
- Execution mentality and a bias for action. Enthusiasm for finding creative solutions to difficult problems and resolving potential roadblocks autonomously.
- High level of technical proficiency in productivity, project management and other tools (e.g., Notion, Looker, Jira, Google Docs/Sheets/Excel, Asana, etc.)
- Seek an environment that fosters individual growth through direct feedback and high degree of autonomy.
