Job Description
About HightouchHightouch’s mission is to empower everyone to take action on their data. Through our Reverse ETL platform, business and data users can seamlessly sync data from where it resides, such as warehouses and databases, to where it is needed, including operational systems and SaaS tools. Traditionally, acting on data has required engineering time and bandwidth, and left most business users stuck with charts and reports that are unable to take automated action on their data. With Hightouch, every business user, without writing any code, can activate data to streamline critical processes, improve marketing performance, and scale operations. Our team operates with a focus on making a meaningful impact for our customers. We believe in approaching challenges with a first principles thinking mindset, moving quickly and embracing our value of efficient execution, and treating each other with compassion and kindness. We look for team members that are strong communicators, have a growth mindset, and are motivated and persistent in achieving our goals.Hundreds of companies use Hightouch, including Spotify, Ramp, Retool, NBA, Plaid, and Betterment. We’re based in San Francisco, are remote-friendly, and backed by leading investors such as Amplify Partners, ICONIQ Growth, Bain Capital Ventures, Y-Combinator, and Afore Capital.About The Role
Hightouch is seeking a Senior Commercial Counsel to help protect and accelerate our business. In this role, you’ll partner closely with our sales team to work with some of our largest customers and potential clients and help build our legal processes so that we have a strong platform for our continued growth.Â
In this role, we estimate that you’ll spend 60% of your time working with potential customers in late-stage negotiations (primarily MSAs and DPAs), 30% of your time collaborating internally to ensure our team + process are set-up to succeed from a legal perspective, and 10% of your time working on early stage (e.g., MNDA) and vendor agreements.Â
If you know how to balance what’s legally “correct” with commercial considerations, thrive when seeing how legal matters impact company trajectories, and love seeing inside a fast-growing startup, then this role is for you.Â

- Proactively establish strong relationships with internal clients (e.g., sales, engineering, customer success) and enhance legal knowledge throughout the Hightouch teamÂ
- Please note that this is not a General Counsel role - we anticipate continuing to work with an external firm for corporate matters. However, we’d be more than happy for you to work closely with our external firm if this is of interest
About You
- At least five years of post-law school experience (mix of law firm and in-house experience preferred)
- A keen understanding and significant experience with enterprise SaaS, including working with customer paper Â

- Demonstrated history of developing strong working relationships with Sales, Finance, Engineering, and other key stakeholders
- Member in good standing of a US state bar associationÂ
Even if your experience does not line up perfectly, we are still excited to have you apply. The best hires do not always check off every box of a job description. This is a senior role, but we focus on impact and potential for growth more than years of experience. The salary range for this position is $200,000 - $250,000 USD per year, which is location independent in accordance with our remote-first policy.
