General Summary of Position

Hybrid - Full-time Sr Communications Specialist Opportunity

As a Senior Communications Specialist at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital you'll play at vital role in ensuring effective internal communication for our renowned institution. You'll be responsible for coordinating various printed and electronic communications, assisting with meetings and events, and actively participating in internal committees.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Serves as a writer, photographer, and production coordinator for MedStar Georgetown's monthly newsletter, the Georgetown Star. Creates and maintains editorial content plans and production schedules. Coordinates with outside designer and printer for timely production and duplicates the newsletter in electronic form using web-based software.

2. Serves as coordinator for MedStar Georgetown's weekly e-newsletter the Monday Memo. Compiles article submissions, edits content as appropriate, and distributes on a timely basis.

3. Assists in the coordination of monthly leadership meetings, associate Town Hall Meetings, associate recognition events, annual NICU Reunion, and annual Community of Caring Gift Drive. Prepares presentations and other meeting materials, facilitates audio visual needs, catering, and post-event communications.

4. Serves on MedStar Georgetown's Associate Recognition Committee. Duties include: preparing nominations for committee review, maintaining program database, plan and facilitate Associate of the Month celebrations, prepare award collateral for dissemination of SPIRIT awards, and assist at annual SPIRIT Gala.

5. Performs other duties and responsibilities that are appropriate to the position and area. The above responsibilities are a general description of the level and nature of the work assigned to this classification and is not to be considered as all-inclusive.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in journalism or related field, required.

3-4 years of experience in writing, editing, publication coordination, and events management.
