About the role:

The Senior Controller will be responsible for Raft's accounting and finance operations. Including management of accounting systems and processes, ensuring the accuracy of financial reporting, financial planning and analysis, budgeting, and forecasting, and providing detailed reviews of financial transactions, focusing on process efficiency and internal control. 

What we are looking for:

  • Manage, oversee and provide leadership to the finance, accounting, and planning support
  • Design, implement and maintain effective accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
  • Design financial models vital to ensuring profitability, revenue and performance targets are met
  • Issue timely, accurate and complete financial statements and analysis
  • Manage the budget process
  • Assist with various planning projects and identify areas of efficiencies and expense management
  • Participate in strategic planning and work closely with the senior management team on ad-hoc projects and analysis
  • Develop and monitor business performance metrics for the executive leadership team
  • Ensure billing includes only allowable and billable costs in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR)
  • Support RFP pricing activities by providing cost and financial information and provide supporting analysis
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of accounting software and supporting database, as needed
  • Establish and implement departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures for the team
  • Work with DCMA/DCAA on contract close-outs to ensure a thorough and timely process through to the final invoice
  • Hands-on approach and take ownership in driving strategy across the organization
  • Strong accounting, financial, and leadership skills
  • Experience in defense contracting

Highly preferred:

  • Master’s or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
  • Solid knowledge and experience applying Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Federal Acquisition Regulations
  • Provide reconciliation of month-end balances for all related projects, including billed and unbilled accounts receivable, revenues, and direct costs
  • Working knowledge of payroll and company benefits (insurance, 401k, taxes)
  • Experience with managing government audits (DCAA/DCMA), annual budget processes, and conducting financial analysis
  • In-depth experience with full-cycle accounting within the government contracting space
  • Small business growth experience
  • CPA preferred
