The position of Senior Cybersecurity Cloud Engineer is within our IDDM R&D Platforms business unit located at our Towne Centre site in San Diego, California. This role will participate in the development and support of our cloud solutions supporting our current and future diagnostics platforms. Within the Instrument Platform Software and Systems team, this role will focus on cybersecurity and connectivity for our cloud products. In this position the candidate will be responsible for driving cybersecurity and connectivity excellence. The right candidate for this position will be an experienced engineer who has demonstrated success designing, documenting and implementing highly secure software products across a system of interconnected solutions.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for the secure operations of cloud infrastructure and platforms such as managing certificates, cryptography, and encryption
- Provide information security expertise and assist in incorporating control measures into new and existing projects around medical device security
- Assist with performing risk assessments of existing and new Abbott cloud systems and medical devices
- Design and development of security strategies for cloud-based applications including hardening, incident response, and disaster recovery
- Performs all procedures necessary to ensure the safety of information systems assets and to protect systems from intentional or inadvertent access or destruction
- Apply in-depth knowledge of user authentication, certificate management, digital signatures, and Internet architecture
- Demonstrates commitment to the development, implementation and effectiveness of the Quality Management System per ISO, FDA, and other regulatory agencies.
- Understands and is aware of the quality consequences which may occur from the improper performance of their specific job; has awareness of device defects that may occur in their area of responsibility, including product design, verification and validation, manufacturing and testing activities
- Responsible for exhibiting professional behavior with both internal/external business associates that reflects positively on the company and is consistent with the company's policies and practices; build productive internal/external working relationships
- Carries out duties in compliance with established business policies
- Other duties as assigned, according to the changing needs of the business
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS | EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor of Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, EE or equivalent.
- 7+ years of experience as a software engineer with experience in cybersecurity and communication networks.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Understanding of cloud security and the relationship between threat, vulnerability and potential risk in the context of risk management.
- Proven experience utilizing Azure Cloud Security posture.
- Familiarity with FDA cybersecurity guidelines
- Knowledge of national and international regulatory compliances and frameworks such as NIST Cybersecurity Framework, ISO 27001, EU DPD, HIPAA/HITECH
- Deep knowledge/expertise of latest security technologies and tools used within the cloud cybersecurity domain, such as PKI, firewalls, IDS/IPS, 2-factor authentication etc. is required
- Ability to translate complex IT Security problems and issues into simple business terms/business impact
- Previous work experience and background in cloud security and/or software development is preferred
- X.509 certificate technologies, processes, and documentation
- Experience with certificate lifecycle management
- PKI Hierarchy definition and management
- FIPS encryption standards (e.g., AES, SHA256)
- Knowledge of industry standards and frameworks such as NIST 800, Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification, Risk Management Framework (RMF), Authority to Operate (ATO), DoD, FedRAMP
- Experience in Threat Modeling and Microsoft Threat Modeling Tool
- Experience with Static Code Analysis such as Fortify on Demand, Code Sense, or AquaSec
- Experience in Cloud Penetration Testing
- Experience in Azure Monitor, Application Gateway Firewalls, Azure DDoS Protection, Azure Key Vault, Azure Active Directory.
- Knowledge of Authentication/Authorization OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect.
- Experience and background in software development preferred.
