Job purpose
 

The purpose of the Sr. Database Administrator is to oversee the installation and ongoing function of software on a system designed for use by a number of users.
 

Duties and responsibilities

  • Writes and troubleshoots SQL Code and design (stored procedures, functions, tables, views, triggers, indexes, constraints )
  • Develops, implements, and integrates operational automation, i.e. SQL Agent. Designing jobs and SSIS packages
  • Troubleshoots SQL Server service outages as they occur, including after-hours and weekends
  • Ensure that new database code meets company standards for readability, reliability, and performance.
  • Understands SQL Server tools (Profiler, SSMS, PerfMon, DMVs, system stored procedures).
  • Facilitates business requirements sessions for review, and definition of business requirements and business changes request
  • Diagnose existing code and make changes as necessary
  • Develop new code/processes to enhance rapid growing functionality
  • The ability to create, maintain and deploy reports in SSRS
  • Deliver on business requests
  • Support Database Operations
  • Collaborate with Sr. Database Administrators
  • Other Duties as assigned by leadership.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5 - 8 years of experience in database development and support in MS SQL Server environments (multiple versions) experience including Database Administration, Tuning, Management and Security.
  • 3-5 years IT operation with strong understanding of database structures, theories, principles, and practices
  • Knowledge and experience with Integration Services and Reporting Services. Report Design experience. SSIS package development. Knowledge of setting up Subscriptions.
  • Experience in troubleshooting and resolving database integrity issues, performance issues, blocking and deadlocking issues, replication issues, connectivity issues, security issues, etc.
  • Experience in Performance Tuning and Optimization.
  • Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for MSSQL Server.
  • Experience in implementing operational automation using scripts.
  • Knowledge of indexes, index management, and statistics.
  • Good interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
  • Technical documentation skills
  • Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language
  • Self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail
  • Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment

 
 

Preferred Qualifications

  • BE or BS Degree in one of the following subject areas: Computer Science, Business Administration, Information Technology or related field preferred
  • Certification is a plus; MCTS, MCITP
  • Knowledge of PowerShell, Integration Services and Reporting Services, VB Script, C#, etc.
  • Knowledge of SQL 2005 through SQL 2016
  • Experience with Redgate, Idera, GIT or other source control repository tool, Jira
  • Knowledge of Microsoft office suite
