Senior Database Operations Manager (Remote)
Job Description
Job Summary:
The Senior Database Manager will be responsible for overseeing the design, implementation, and maintenance of the organization's databases. The Manager will work closely with other IT professionals to ensure that the databases are secure, reliable, and efficient. The Senior Database Manager will also be responsible for managing a team of database administrators and ensuring that they are meeting their goals and objectives. The Manager will constantly assess and implement new technologies and provide Information Technology with a long-term perspective on the relationship of database technology to the business opportunities facing Experity. It is extremely important to Experity that the production database systems offer the highest reliability and performance possible. The DBA is challenged to work with application development and IT operations to help achieve a state-of-the-art environment that meets current and future business objectives and Experity's suite of applications.
Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and maintain the organization's databases
- Ensure that the databases are secure, reliable, and efficient
- Manage a team of database administrators and ensure that they are meeting their goals and objectives
- Develop and implement database policies and procedures
- Monitor database performance and make recommendations for improvements
- Work closely with other IT professionals to ensure that the databases are integrated with other systems
- Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans for the databases
- Ensure that the databases are compliant with all relevant regulations and standards
- Provide technical support to end-users as needed
- Deploy, maintain, and manage all company database servers
- Configure and deploy measures to guarantee the security of the company's data, and monitor events for anomalies
- Contribute to the logical and infrastructure design of the databases and servers for optimal performance and capacity
- Design high availability and disaster recovery strategies and periodically conduct testing for the same
- Collaborate with developers on the design and maintenance of database queries
- Design and maintain database structures for scalability according to best practices and standards
- Maintains and enforces policies and procedures designed to ensure the integrity of the enterprise database environments
- Keeps informed on new and emerging database and application development technologies
- Oversees day-to-day activities of team members and third-party contractors; addresses concerns and escalates to the SVP of IT as needed
- Other duties as assigned
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience managing a team of database administrators
- Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server, up to the latest version
- At least 7 years of experience in database management
- Knowledge of High Availability and Disaster Recovery options for SQL Server and other database management systems.
- Strong knowledge of database design and implementation
- Experience with database security and compliance
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Experience with multiple database management systems
- Experience in implementing operational automation for repetitive tasks
Preferred:
- MCA, MCTS, MCITP, or MVP certification
