Where You'll Come In

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior DevOps Engineer with a specialization in Backstage, an open platform for building developer portals developed by Spotify. The ideal candidate will be responsible for deploying and managing code changes in a Backstage environment, collaborating closely with developers to ensure seamless integration and efficiency. This role also involves working with operations staff to maintain system stability and performance, particularly within Kubernetes-based infrastructures.


To excel in this position, the candidate must possess a profound understanding of both development and operations, with a strong emphasis on Backstage's unique features, such as its extensive plugin ecosystem, software catalog, and "docs like code" approach. A solid technical background in software development, system administration, and Kubernetes is essential.

Responsibilities:

  • Handle the initial deployment of Backstage, ensuring compatibility with organizational infrastructure, especially Kubernetes integration.
  • Customize Backstage using plugins from its ecosystem to meet specific organizational needs and standardize project setups.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation using Backstage's "docs like code" approach, ensuring clarity and accessibility.
  • Conduct training sessions for team members on using Backstage effectively and provide ongoing support for platform-related issues.
  • Oversee the regular updating, performance optimization, and security compliance of the Backstage environment.
  • Collaborate with different teams for seamless workflow integration and regularly review platform performance for potential improvements.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science or equivalent experience
  • Must be located in the US
  • Working knowledge of various tools, kubernetes, terraform, database management, git, etc., and cloud services (GCP or AWS)
  • Experience managing, deploying, and developing backstage
  • Node.Js experience
  • Configuration and managing databases such as MySQL
  • Awareness of critical concepts in DevOps and Agile principles
  • Excellent troubleshooting
  • Experience working on Linux based infrastructure
