As a Senior Embedded Software Engineer at Ursa Major you will design develop and maintain the software powering our engines vehicles and avionics systems. You will be part of a small high-impact team building flight software at the cutting edge of reliability safety and performance. This role requires a detail-oriented self-driven engineer who thrives on solving complex problems and advancing the state of the art in aerospace.

 Responsibilities: 

  • Design develop test and maintain embedded software for avionics throughout the product lifecycle
  • Develop and maintain ground support software tools and systems
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to define and deliver new software features
  • Document designs code and procedures to ensure maintainability and compliance
  • Debug optimize and support software and hardware integration efforts

Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science Computer/Electrical Engineering or related field
  • 4+ years of professional experience in embedded C/C++ development for ARM SoC or FPGA softcore platforms
  • Hands-on experience with hardware interface programming (timers interrupts communication protocols ADCs etc.)
  • Proficiency reading schematics and debugging with hardware tools (e.g. oscilloscopes logic analyzers)
  • Experience using version control systems such as Git
  • Ability to work effectively in both independent and collaborative settings managing multiple priorities

Desirable Experience: 

  • Experience with software development standards such as RTCA DO-178
  • Familiarity with Python MATLAB LabVIEW and/or other scripting languages
  • Exposure to continuous integration automated build/test and hardware-in-the-loop systems
  • Understanding of FPGA development and HDL
  • Experience with RTOS and/or Linux-based embedded systems
  • Familiarity with controls engineering (sensors actuators and motors)

Colorado law requires us to tell you the base compensation range of this role which is $125000 - $155000 determined by your education experience knowledge skills and abilities. The salary range for this role is intentionally wide as we are evaluating individuals based on their unique experience and abilities to fit our needs.
