The Microsoft Margin Strategy and Investment Optimization finance team is an exciting and fast-evolving finance team at the forefront of Microsoft's Cloud-first strategy. We are looking for a talented and motivated individual to help shape the future of our cloud products.

The team's charter is to partner with the Strategic Missions and Technology engineering teams to focus on next generation opportunities in areas like quantum computing, space, telecommunications, and federal business. Strategic Mission Technologies (SMT) is a division that aims to accelerate the growth of these important emerging businesses. while ensuring mission solutions, cloud services, and all offerings achieve both revenue and operating margin growth. As a crucial member of the team, you'll also support long-term bets to keep Microsoft Cloud ahead of competition, all while enhancing transparency into Microsoft investments and safeguarding shareholder interests.

Our Cloud Investment Strategy team is seeking a Senior Finance Manager responsible for driving the financial evaluation of mission-related opportunities in support of Microsoft's work with the United States Government, United States Intelligence Community, Department of Defense, Federal government, and mission partners.

Qualifications:

Required/Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science, or related field AND 4+ years of post-graduate financial analysis, accounting, controllership, or finance work experience
    • OR Master's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance,

      Economics, Data Science, or related field AND 2+ years of post-graduate

      financial analysis, accounting, controllership, or finance work experience
    • OR equivalent experience
Other Requirements:
  • Active U.S. Government Top Secret Clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) based on a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with Polygraph.
  • US Citizenship required to meet federal government security requirements.
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role.
  • The successful candidate must have an active U.S. Government Top Secret Clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) based on a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with Polygraph.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. Failure to maintain or obtain the appropriate U.S. Government clearance and/or customer screening requirements may result in employment action up to and including termination.
  • Clearance Verification: This position requires successful verification of the stated security clearance to meet federal government customer requirements. You will be asked to provide clearance verification information prior to an offer of employment.
  • Citizenship & Citizenship Verification: This position requires verification of U.S citizenship due to citizenship-based legal restrictions. Specifically, this position supports United States federal, state, and/or local United States government agency customers and is subject to certain citizenship-based restrictions where required or permitted by applicable law. To meet this legal requirement, citizenship will be verified via a valid passport, or other approved documents, or verified US government clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Deep modeling capabilities and ability to work with financial and business systems.

  • Executive level oral and written communication skills; ability to communicate complex analysis in a clear, simple way through PowerPoint.

  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and to work under tight deadlines.
  • High level of motivation and autonomy; ability to quickly identify what needs to be accomplished and resourcefulness to get things done.
Financial Analysis IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $91,800 - $178,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $117,900 - $195,000 per year.

Responsibilities:

This role will lead the integration of classified Profit & Loss management, controllership, and compliance for Microsoft cloud products.

Core responsibilities will include:
  • Partnering with product teams to provide cost and price transparency for all cloud products
  • Validating internal cost sharing processes
  • addressing revenue recognition and revenue reporting
  • Partnering with the US field teams including Commerce partners, mission engineering partners, and corporate finance teams to deliver end-to-end financial assessments and communicate the investments, risks, and economics of potential opportunities.
  • As needed, provide customer-facing financial analysis for emerging opportunities.
