Senior Full Stack Engineer, Backend Focused

Why do we need you? Well, we are looking for an engineer who will bring deep technical know-how, architectural wisdom and enthusiasm to our team. You will report to one of our Engineering Managers and will be responsible for building and scaling internal tools for analytics and experimentation.

You build and expand upon a growing ecosystem of macro-services. Enabling other teams within Calendly to send analytics, toggle feature flags, and experiment to make data based decisions. You enjoy building new features end-to-end and helping guide the way to breaking down a monolith. Top candidates are proactive, stakeholder-minded, and empathetic. 

You and your team members impact every aspect of development from design to delivery to maintenance. You write well-tested software and are looking to grow into a service oriented specialist. You are comfortable working in numerous technologies such as TypeScript (NodeJS), Python, Go, Rust, Rego, Rails, Docker, PostgreSQL and more

• Building out the team's portfolio of services to enable experimentation and reporting across web, mobile, and clients
• Advocating for strong foundations in technical architecture while maintaining high velocity
• Working end-to-end to deliver features - from discovery, product design, technical design, coding, testing, shipping, and iteration based on collaborator feedback
• Reviewing tech specs and pull requests from other specialists
• Improving our engineering systems and processes; we operate an agile process with sprints and iterate continuously
• Mentoring and coaching other team members

• 7+ years of Software Development experience at a SaaS or technology company
• Deep proficiency with Service Oriented Architectures (SOA) (microservices)
• Previously survived a Monolith to Services architectural rebuild
• Experience with Rails is nice to have, but not required; we know the best engineers will learn languages as needed
• Experience with TypeScript is nice to have; we expect you to have some experience choosing the right language for the right job
• Excited to craft simple software solutions to sophisticated problems
• Strive to craft clean, reliable and highly maintainable code
• Authorized to work lawfully in the United States of America as Calendly does not engage in immigration sponsorship at this time
