Senior Full Stack Software Engineer

Shift5 is seeking a full-time Senior Full Stack Software Engineer to join our engineering team to help design, build, deliver, maintain and improve the Shift5 Data Platform API and UI.

Shift5 is a rapidly growing cybersecurity start-up. We specialize in cybersecurity technology, data collection, and insights for a wide variety of operational systems (planes, trains and tanks). Our engineers are multidisciplinary and our team is dynamic. We’re a growing company focused on helping our customers access previously inaccessible vehicle data. In this role you will be expected to:

• Develop and maintain a web service based on the PETAL stack (Elixir + Phoenix + LiveView + TailwindCSS)
• Work cross-functionally with product managers and designers to conceive, implement and ship major features
• Communicate technical ideas to team members and influence direction on projects
• Work across teams and all levels of leadership to troubleshoot issues
• Provide actionable feedback to team members

We're looking for someone who is/has:

• Self-motivated with strong organizational, written, and oral communication skills
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent
• 5+ years of professional experience building enterprise software
• Proficiency with Elixir (or strong proficiency with python, javascript, go or C++ and the desire and ability to learn Elixir)
• Strong proficiency with Phoenix or another web framework
• Ability to work with client side html, js and css 
• Experience developing and maintaining APIs (REST, GraphQL)
• Strong relational database experience
• Understands and ponders deeply software engineering practices and concepts
• Determined, persistent and kind
• US Citizenship
