We are looking for a talented Senior Incident Management Engineer to work alongside our security, engineering, and development teams to improve stability and reduce risk. As part of the Security team at Fastly, Incident Management Engineers drive the resiliency, speed, efficiency, scaling and security of both customer-facing and back-end systems.
Senior Incident Management Engineers lead wide-ranging efforts at Fastly to encourage best practices, and remove anti-patterns, from our company practices. If you can name three blameless ways to say âpost-mortem,â this is the role for you.
This role is limited to non-U.S. only.
What You'll Do
- Serve as incident manager on call, responsible for coordinating Fastlyâs response to acute outages and security events
- Conduct incident reviews focused on finding and solving systemic engineering and sociotechnical problems
- Investigate outages, and report patterns that contribute to production issues
- Conduct incident retrospectives and capture learnings
- Analyze successful launches and fast outage remediations in order to reproduce good practice across the company
- Identify, develop and train staff in new processes that amplify existing good practice within Fastly
- Design and/or build tooling to assist with incident management and response
What We're Looking For
- 3+ years experience running high availability systems and supporting distributed infrastructure
- Experience working and collaborating with remote or distributed environments
- Familiarity with a variety of incident response frameworks
- Thorough knowledge of best practices in system engineering, software development, or computer security
- Knowledge of data analysis techniques
- Adaptable to a wide variety of technologies and people
