Senior Java Developer

IDEXX is looking for a Senior Software Developer to play an important role in enhancing our IoT communication platform to support a growing customer base. Our cloud-based platform consists of an event-driven microservice architecture that enables IDEXX to provide continuous maintenance, monitoring, and support of medical instruments for pet health providers on a global scale. Our team is a high functioning Scrum team with a strong business partnership and drive for delivering great results.

We have a preference for someone who is able to be onsite at our Westbrook ME office at least 2-3 times per month, but will also consider remote.

In this Role You will:

• Be a senior member of a highly effective team delivering industry-leading software.

• Design, build, test, deploy and iterate on software while fostering the professional development of junior team members.

• Partner with business to build and communicate a technical vision for the product and technical strategy within the project.

• Participate in strategic business and technical planning to bring innovations and ideas to life.

• Encourage and support learning within the team.

• Work with an experienced team of professionals across many disciplines.

What do you need to succeed?

• 7+ years of experience working as a Software Developer

• Experience using Java, Spring, and AWS

• Intrinsically notice inefficiencies and desire to resolve them

• Desire to influence, guide, mentor, coach, lead, support, and enjoy a heavily involved team atmosphere

• Ability to plan ahead and be strategic

• Seasoned experience working through technical challenges and solving complex issues

• Support continuous improvements to development practices and challenge the status quo

• Ability to lead discussions, projects, and influence others

• Proficiency with Java and Spring required. Experience with other Object-Oriented languages a plus

• Penchant for Test and Behavior Driven Development

• Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills

• Several years development experience creating, and maintaining, new and legacy solutions

• Experience designing, building, and maintaining RESTful APIs

• Experience with relational databases, Structured Query Language (SQL databases) and unstructured NoSQL

• Experience working with modern technologies and cloud platforms, with a strong focus on containerization and AWS

• Knowledge of client-server architecture and modern authentication patterns.

• Mature understanding and experience with secure coding and design principles

• Experience working-in and supporting Scrum practices within the Agile framework
