The Crown Is Yours
DraftKings is growing quickly and we're looking for a Senior Lead Software Engineer, Elixir to direct our engineering teams and influence our product roadmap. This is more than a technical position, though. You'll be collaborating across teams, informing our business decisions, and creatively finding solutions to all of our scaling challenges.
What you'll do as a Senior Lead Software Engineer, Elixir

• Take ownership for the design, development, maintenance, testing strategy, and operations of API services written primarily in Elixir hosted in GCP.
• Collaborate with business leads across the company to define milestones and deliveries on very short time frames for new functionality to be added to existing systems.
• You will be the first voice for the engineering organization on the systems your team owns.
• Lead your team in design sessions and ensure your team delivers high-quality work that aligns with DraftKings' engineering strategy.
• Provide support to local lottery fulfillment operations to ensure live systems are performing properly.

What you'll bring

• 7-8+ years of hands-on Elixir or Erlang experience.
• Hands-on experience with event-driven systems like RabbitMQ or Kafka.
• Proficiency with LiveView and OTP.
• Ideally, you have experience as the 'expert' on a development team where you were responsible for everything from planning to delivering key features and management of those features.
• Solid cloud-native experience with Kubernetes, containerized microservices, data grids, auto-scaling, and managed infrastructures.
• You have strong relational database skills using technologies like MySQL or SQL Server.
• Experience with multi-threading, concurrency, and building resilient systems.
• Knowledge of functional programming and architectural design principals.
• You also have the ability to write automated comprehensive test suites at all levels of the architecture.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills, real-time decision-making, and responsiveness to problem-solving that put the customer experience first.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $156,000.00 - $234,000.00, plus bonus, equity, and benefits as applicable. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
