Senior Manager, Analog/Mixed-Signal Design - Technology Platforms

Job Summary

In this highly visible, central-engineering AMS management role, you will lead a design team working closely with product teams to plan and develop cutting edge CMOS/SOI analog, mixed-signal, PMIC, and PA controller circuits. As a manager, you will be responsible for hiring, employee retention, performance management, and resource allocation in addition to providing technical leadership and program management. Your team will participate closely in all stages of the design cycle including definition, architecture selection, circuit design and simulation, layout supervision, silicon evaluation, characterization, and product integration.

Roles & Responsibilities

This position has responsibility for:

• Management: Planning, resource allocation, hiring employee retention, performance management, mentor junior engineers.
• Technical Leadership: Work with the Product Design teams and Marketing to define IP block functionality and performance specifications. Project management to ensure on-time completion. Technical oversight of all phases of design, layout, and characterization of IP blocks, while maximizing reusability across multiple products. Ensure documentation of all relevant design information to educate others on IP block usage and novel design techniques. Occasional circuit design work to assess architecture selection and supplement team resources.
• Product Support: Work with Applications, Product, and Manufacturing Engineers to help answer customer questions, assess field failures, and support yield improvements.
• AMS Infrastructure & Methodology: Contribute to requirements documentation, tool selection and methodology development.
• Product Capability Development: Work with Design, Marketing, Modeling and Process Technology teams to drive the definition and development of SOI process technology, modeling requirements, IP roadmaps, and product platforms to enable Product Design to rapidly build RFICs.

Minimum Qualifications (Experience and Skills)

• 3+ years management experience leading a design engineering team
• 12+ years of experience developing Analog/Mixed-Signal/PMIC circuit blocks and products
• An expert in analog / mixed-signal IC circuit design: amplifiers, opamps, references, LDO regulators, data converters, switched capacitor circuits, charge pumps, digital interfaces
• Able to effectively supervise layout designers
• Experience in high volume, commercial CMOS ICs (bulk or SOI)
• Strong sense of urgency to meet product requirements on schedule
• Team player, able to work effectively within the Technology Platforms department and cross functionally with other teams
• Ability to mentor junior engineers

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with RFIC products and applications
• Knowledge of IC fabrication and how this impacts circuit performance
• Software tools: Cadence, Excel, JMP, Matlab, ADS, HFSS, Momentum

Education Requirements

• BSEE, MSEE preferred
