Senior Manager, Content Design

For this role, we're looking for a motivated and inspirational Senior Manager, Content Design to help us manage a team of practitioners and scale our content design culture. This Senior Manager will be focused on our Partner business helping to empower content designers to envision and craft useful, usable, and delightful experiences for Expedia Group partners. We work on a global scale, across brands, devices and platforms, in a diverse and collaborative environment.
What you'll do:
- As Senior Manager, Content Design, you'll provide mentorship and craft leadership to a team of Content Designers whose work spans one or more interrelated program areas
- Craft and supervise the creation of clear, compelling, customer-centered artifacts and frameworks
- Maintain our high standards for content design in ways that inspire and uplift others within the team
- Build strategic relationships across Product, Engineering, Brand, Localization and other key Partner teams
- Mentor content designers on product strategy and how to be an effective designer
- Coach your team to use feedback effectively and to contribute to an environment of healthy, positive critique in which we're all working to uplift one another
- Help your team apply and adapt sound practices in human-centered design to solve customer problems in large and sophisticated product areas
- Collaborate with other content design leaders on learning and development opportunities for the practitioners on our team
- Lead by example, ensuring an inclusive, innovative, candid, and trusting team environment
- Support recruiting, resourcing, and work prioritization within the practice
Who you are:
We realize that content strategy and content design are constantly evolving, and we know that no two people enter this field through the same path. We're not expecting you to be a specialist in everything listed here, but we do ask that you demonstrate
expertise commensurate with the job level in whichever methods you apply. We're also looking for people who will contribute frameworks to our growing team and our design system, so we're excited to see how you scale your thinking!
- 3+ years of experience as a manager in content design and/or UX content strategy on a UX or product design team, or equivalent experience leading others toward outcomes as a senior individual contributor
- Advanced skills both as a practitioner and as a mentor in techniques such as Content Mapping and Modeling, Conversational Design, Information Architecture, UX Writing, and Storytelling
- A growth mindset, an optimistic outlook, and the ability to lead through change
- Demonstrated experience motivating and up-leveling content teams while minimizing attrition and encouraging trust
- Ability to collaborate with other leaders across practice areas - particularly those with approaches and perspectives different from your own - to generate effective solutions
- A thoughtful, empathetic, and inclusive approach to content design
- Advanced skills in facilitation, workshop design, presentation, and storytelling
- A passion for travel and for our mission
- A portfolio of work that demonstrates your expertise
The total cash range for this position in Seattle is $161,500.00 to $226,000.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $258,500.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.
Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual's knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
