In this role, you are critical in delivering transparent, accurate, and timely financial information to our investors, Board of Directors and senior management, and to ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations. This position reports to the Vice-President, Finance.

Responsibilities

The Senior Manager of Audit & Tax will work closely alongside Higher Ground’s finance leadership team to support and scale our tax and audit systems. Key responsibilities are as follows.

  • Support and continuously improve financial reporting. You will act as the primary liaison with external auditors, ensuring timely and accurate follow-through on all requests and filings. This means rolling up sleeves to prepare workpapers, schedules, roll-forwards, and other documentation required by auditors. It will also mean preparing technical accounting memos, or research as needed.
  • Own and quarterback tax processes and filings. In this position, you will manage the process of responding to tax notices, audits and related inquiries by tax authorities. This will entail overseeing third-party tax advisors and service providers, as well as independently preparing in-house tax filings where appropriate, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
  • Build and drive tighter controls. We are looking for someone who is excited to establish processes, including the design, implementation, and monitoring of internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure accurate financial reporting. This means being able to operate independently with minimal supervision, swiftly adapting to new information, and being flexible to respond to changes in our business landscape.
