The Opportunity
This Senior Mobile DevOps Engineer position for our Sylmar, CA or Sunnyvale, CA location.
We are seeking a high caliber Senior DevOps Engineer for Mobile Software for Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM) under a disciplined product development process that meets Abbott quality and appropriate regulatory agency requirements.
You will perform a variety of development and operation activities including, but not limited to, planning, building, deploying Android and iOS mobile applications across various target environments, as well as developing and maintaining software tools for this purpose. You will work on implementing, maintaining and constantly improving our continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) pipeline, software configuration management and the deployment, operations and maintenance of our mobile applications on Android and iOS app stores globally. You will participate actively in quality, compliance, and security initiatives.
What You'll Work On
- Design, implement and maintain continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery (CD) pipelines for CRM's software development framework, using continuous build environments like Jenkins, Jira, Bitbucket, and Appium.
- Build, package and deploy Android and iOS applications to pre-production (development and staging) and production environments including TestFlight, App Center, Google Play Store, and Apple App Store.
- Monitor and assess impact of updates to Android, iOS SDK and toolchain used for building mobile apps and work with product teams to implement updates.
- Identify and incorporate latest developer certification and approval criteria, including requirements, procedures, and timelines, as defined by Android and iOS app stores.
- Identify and evaluate external tools, and well as build and/or deploy internal tools to improve developer productivity and contribute ideas to continuously improve the build and deployment pipeline.
- Implement and monitor dashboards, metrics, and reports for providing and manage reliability and performance of the build and deployment process.
- Perform troubleshooting and defect repair in the build and deployment framework and deliverables, as well as perform root cause analysis and identify corrective and preventive actions to address current and future issues.
- Work with a cross-functional team of engineers from mobile and backend software engineering, operations and technical support to maintain and enhance the reliability of the build process.
- Ensure that all development activities and deliverables conform to and comply with design specifications and coding standards per Abbott and CRM requirements and guidelines, as well as regulatory requirements including but not limited to the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and European Union Medical Device Regulations (EU-MDR).
- Stay abreast of the latest developments in Mobile software technologies including the Mobile Operating System (OS) platform updates, deployment strategies, cloud interfaces, Cybersecurity, and test environments.
- Demonstrate familiarity with Agile principles and development environment to ensure quick and timely deliveries to internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrate sound communication skills and judgment in day-to-day tasks, decision-making and productivity.
- Demonstrate ability to work innovatively in a fast-paced as well as a regulated environment.
- Support all corporate and department-level initiatives as identified by management and in support of Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS) and other regulatory requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of relevant industry experience in software development using various programming languages
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant industry experience in code management and deployment processes (CI/CD), procedures, and tools
- Bachelor's Degree - Software engineering, computer science, or a related engineering field or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
- Programming and Scripting (at least two of)
- Java, Swift, Objective C, C#, JS, Kotlin, Python, Shell scripting
- Source Management Platform and Tools (at least two of)
- Jenkins, git, Bitbucket, GitLab, Ansible, Terraform
Preferred- Master's Degree - Software engineering, computer science, or a related engineering field or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
- Experience with creating jobs and/or building CI/CD pipelines, preferably with Jenkins, for one or more IT environments
- Experience with integrating mobile applications with multiple server endpoints and/or services.
