Job Description

About Vercel:

At Vercel, we believe that liberating the frontend unlocks creativity and open-source is the best way forward.

We are building a next-generation internet where developers can create freely and execute new ideas, guaranteeing a more vibrant, personalized internet. Vercel’s platform provides the speed and reliability to create at the moment of inspiration. In other words, our friction-less, real-time deployment makes it possible to start working on projects immediately — anywhere in the world.

Our globally-distributed team works asynchronously to lead the React ecosystem and serve developers at large companies. We pride ourselves on our diversity, shared urgency to iterate, team-oriented decision making, and drive to dig deep.

About The Role:

In this role you will get the opportunity to work with a small, but mighty security team to continue building out the nascent privacy program at Vercel. If you like greenfields and challenges, in a supportive environment, Vercel is the place for you.

The Privacy Program Manager will be responsible for building, monitoring, assessing, maintaining and upholding Vercel’s privacy program expectations in alignment with our privacy policies, standards, and industry best practices. This includes performing privacy assessments, conducting risk analysis, and recommending actions to relevant teams.

You will work across the organization with engineers, people operations, marketing, procurement, and others as the internal consultant on all projects, initiatives, and processes that involve processing personal data and/or data privacy implications.

Think you may not have all the skills and are hesitant to apply? There is no “perfect” candidate and encourage you to apply if you think that you can bring value to our team.

Getting Started:
  • We want you to feel like part of the team early on! Our team will help integrate you into the company with explanations on our product, policies, processes, team structure and roadmap.
  • We’re excited for you to learn, grow, and contribute right away! We trust that you’ll bring experience and knowledge that will uplift and up-level the team, but we don’t expect you to know everything on Day 1.
What You Will Do:
  • Collaborate with internal teams, such as Marketing, Procurement, Product, and Engineering to identify privacy issues, propose solutions, and provide guidance on compliance requirements
  • Contribute to the scalability and maturation of the Vercel’s privacy function through the development of internal processes, documentation, policies and procedures
  • Provide ongoing direction and support to compliance with regulatory obligations, including consent management, data mapping, privacy impact assessments, records of processing activities, and data subject requests.
  • Assist with managing privacy and data security controls for legal and compliance frameworks (e.g., SOC 2 and ISO 27001/27701).
  • Measure the health and effectiveness of the privacy program by tracking key projects and timelines, identifying performance metrics, and delivering success to internal teams and customers
  • Advance the third-party risk management program by performing third-party service provider due diligence reviews, improving operational workflows, and evolving third-party risk policies and procedures.
  • Grow and foster the existing privacy culture by serving as an internal champion and advocate for privacy
About You:
  • At least 3 years relevant experience in data privacy, policy, programs, legal and regulatory requirements and expectations, or other related fields
  • Strong oral and written communication skills that exhibit enthusiasm, energy, discretion, and poise
  • Exceptionally organized, detail-oriented, and process driven and can successfully manage multiple competing responsibilities at the same time
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment that requires the ability to work independently and adaptively as well as anticipate and mitigate friction points
  • Willingness to roll up your sleeves, pitch in to help others, and take initiative to promptly resolve and learn from challenges
  • Insatiably curious and dedicated to ongoing learning, leading you to think critically and creatively to improve privacy while being thoughtful about balancing encouragement for the company to grow.
Bonus if You:
  • CIPP/US/E/CIPM/CIPT or other privacy, risk, or compliance-related certifications (i.e., CCEP) is a plus, but not required
  • Familiarity with privacy or software development tools and systems (e.g., OneTrust, Osano, Github, etc.)
  • Built holistic, scalable privacy programs from the ground up including planning, designing, implementing, maintaining, and improving documentation, processes, and tooling
Benefits:
  • Competitive compensation and stock options
  • Inclusive Healthcare Package
  • Flexible working style - 100% remote, with teammates located throughout the globe
  • Learn and Grow - we provide mentorship and send you to events that help you build your network and skills
  • Unlimited PTO - 4 weeks recommended per year. Take time when you need it.
  • We will provide you the gear you need to do your role, and a WFH budget for you to outfit your space as needed
