Job Description

ConsumerAffairs helps consumers make smart buying decisions in moments of need. Every month millions of consumers turn to our site and tools for help with their considered (often emotional) purchases.

We educate them about their options, learn about their specific needs, and connect hundreds of thousands of them directly to brands. These brands use our SaaS tools to manage their reviews and communicate directly with consumers to serve them better. Our business thrives when the consumers who trust us get matched with the right brands for them.

We’re fast-paced and our core values are the bedrock of who we are and who we want to be.

Our employees believe in raising the bar through data-driven innovation, intellectual curiosity, and grit. We have a team first mentality, and manifest wins by putting the team first. Collaboration and teamwork is in our hearts and we believe winning together is the most fun. But, above all else, we care. We have servant hearts for our consumers, customers, and colleagues. If you want to be part of a globally diverse team that’s focussed on helping people, in an environment where we raise the bar, win as a team, and care above all else—then ConsumerAffairs may be just the place for you!
ABOUT THE JOB:

The Senior Product Designer will be leading the charge for the design of our product design at ConsumerAffairs.com. Be confident and comfortable with working across multi-disciplinary teams in order to achieve measurable results. This role will require a strong set of both interaction design skills, as well as the visual design chops to take a lot of information and make it all look good in a small space. This candidate will be a self-starter and must be comfortable working independently in an agile and fast-paced environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Take high-level product ideas from conception through execution. We are a small team so you'll work across a wide range of areas - product strategy, user research, and UX/UI design in particular.
  • Take joint ownership of metrics and strategy with the product team, and work collaboratively with engineering and operations to achieve goals
  • Drive the product discovery process through various quantitative and qualitative testing methods
  • Ensure a unified customer experience across all channels and touch points

  • Follow a user-centered design process, understanding real users motivations, behaviors and goals. Our teams focus on listening to fans, and letting their needs guide us to the best solutions. It’s important for us to know we are solving for real people and not just the competition or stakeholders.
  • Work with small multi-disciplinary teams. You’ll partner closely with engineering, product, and editorial folks to find elegant but practical solutions to design challenges.
  • You are highly empathetic and passionate about helping others. You’re excited about building a solid design foundation within our team and eager to roll up your sleeves and do what it takes to ship products and features our user's love.
  • You’ve been part of a high-functioning product and design team and have a knack for user research and UX design, but can be effective across a number of other product design functions. You’re ready to take ownership of our design process and the end-to-end designs of the most critical areas of our product.
  • You have experience creating minimum viable products, utilizing rapid prototyping and iterative design techniques.
  • A passion for creating products that balance function and emotional impact on people.
  • Strong understanding of interaction patterns, accessibility, and best practices for user interface design.
  • Strong storytelling skills with a real passion for finding new, effective ways to advocate for our users.
  • Work within our design system & adhere to the design language - as you innovate for your team, we will work to shape that system at a platform level to systematically improve the experience of ConsumerAffairs.com.
  • Meet professional obligations through efficient work habits such as meeting deadlines, honoring schedules, coordinating resources in an effective and timely manner and demonstrate respect for others.
