This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Program Officer in Canada.
This role offers a meaningful opportunity to expand global participation in collaborative knowledge initiatives through education and structured volunteering programs. As a Senior Program Officer, you will lead efforts to attract and support new contributors by building partnerships with organizations that promote volunteer engagement among students, professionals, and youth communities. You will work closely with international volunteers, affiliates, and internal teams to design programs that encourage content creation and knowledge sharing. The role requires strong relationship-building skills, the ability to work across cultures and time zones, and a passion for community-driven initiatives. By combining program management, outreach, and strategic collaboration, you will help strengthen contributor ecosystems and drive sustainable participation in global knowledge projects.

Accountabilities:

  • Build and develop partnerships with organizations that facilitate structured volunteering opportunities across education, youth, and corporate sectors.
  • Support volunteer communities and partner organizations in organizing training sessions, content initiatives, and participation programs that encourage new contributors.
  • Communicate the value of collaborative knowledge creation and editing practices to partners, helping them understand guidelines and best practices.
  • Analyze readership data and community insights to identify knowledge gaps and align volunteering programs with high-impact content opportunities.
  • Collaborate with internal product and program teams to represent the needs of volunteer initiatives and contribute to improvements in contributor experience.
  • Facilitate coordination between affiliates, community members, and partner organizations to ensure successful program implementation.
  • Monitor program outcomes, gather insights, and continuously improve initiatives that support contributor growth and engagement.
  • Requirements:
  • 5+ years of professional experience in program management, education initiatives, youth programs, or volunteer engagement.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree or equivalent experience considered a plus.
  • Strong facilitation and relationship-building skills with the ability to build trust across diverse communities and stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to present ideas clearly and persuasively.
  • Experience working in distributed, cross-cultural environments and collaborating across departments.
  • Ability to coordinate with international partners across multiple time zones and travel internationally several times per year.
  • Strong organizational skills, adaptability, and a proactive approach to managing complex partnerships and initiatives.
  • Preferred: familiarity with open knowledge initiatives, community-based projects, or collaborative digital platforms; proficiency in an additional language.
