Senior Project Accountant

As a Senior Project Accountant within our internal finance team, you will manage financial records for a specific practice area and their projects and ensure accurate, timely billing and reporting. This role is essential in ensuring project budgets are maintained, expenses are tracked, and clients are billed accurately.

This role requires an individual that is analytical, detail-oriented and has strong accounting skills. You will be communicating with internal team and clients of SN.

This is a remote position that can work from anywhere within the United States.

What you’ll do at SN:

• Work closely with clients to resolve any billing issues, discrepancies, and outstanding invoices
• Manage subconsultant vouchers and work with vendors and Practice Area Leader to streamline project allocations
• Prepare and review invoices, ensuring accuracy, timely submission, and compliance with contract terms.
• Collaborate with project teams and clients to verify billable hours, resolve billing issues, and maintain smooth financial operations.
• Monitor project performance, provide financial reports, and deliver insights to stakeholders for informed decision-making.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and regulations for revenue recognition and project finances.
• Support month-end and year-end closing activities and maintain organized records for audits and reviews.
• Serve as a liaison between project managers, finance teams, and clients, offering guidance on financial processes and best practices.

What you may have done before

• Worked in project-based accounting for an internal finance team
• Worked with a project centric ERP, we use Deltek Vision/Vantagepoint

What it takes to be a Project Accountant:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field
• Experience with Vision or Vantagepoint ERP
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in project accounting or a similar role
• Strong understanding of project management principles and accounting standards
• Proficiency in accounting software
• Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
• Ability to prioritize, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines

Salary: The salary range for this position is an estimate of $75,000 - $90,000. A final compensation offer within this range will be based on factors including an individual’s skill sets, experience, knowledge, licensure and certifications, and geography.
