The Senior Quality Assurance Engineer Role
 
Join our vibrant team as a Software QA Automation Engineer in the fast-paced and innovative AI India Team. We believe in the power of data to change the world and are looking for individuals who share this passion. As part of our global R&D organization, you will play a crucial role in building and supporting Qlik's Cloud-based AI / ML components, contributing to transformative discoveries in data.
 
We are seeking a Senior QA Engineer with a developer-focused mindset to join our team. This role emphasizes shifting left in the development process and involves working on the lower layers of the test pyramid. You will collaborate closely with developers and product teams to ensure high-quality software delivery through automated testing and continuous integration practices.

  • Collaborate with Development Teams: Work alongside software developers to understand application architecture and identify testing needs early in the development cycle.
  • Design and Implement Automated Tests: Develop automated testing frameworks and scripts for unit, integration, and API testing, focusing on the lower levels of the test pyramid.
  • Shift Left Principles: Advocate for early testing in the development process, integrating QA practices into the CI/CD pipeline to enhance software quality.
  • Test Driven Development (TDD): Utilize TDD practices to write tests before code implementation, ensuring that the code meets the specified requirements and quality standards from the outset.
  • Behavior Driven Development (BDD): Collaborate with stakeholders to define user stories and acceptance criteria and implement BDD practices to create scenarios that guide development and testing efforts.
  • Test Planning and Strategy: Create comprehensive test plans that align with product requirements and development goals, ensuring thorough coverage of functionalities.
  • Continuous Improvement: Analyze test results and performance metrics to identify areas for improvement in testing processes and software quality.
  • Documentation: Maintain clear and concise documentation of testing processes, test cases, and automation scripts to support knowledge sharing and onboarding.
  • Mentorship and Training: Provide guidance to team members on best practices for testing and automation, fostering a culture of quality within the team.
 
Here’s how you’ll be making an impact:
 
  • Compare different test automation frameworks and set up the feasible framework infrastructure.
  • Define the test framework, test preconditions, and other test control and reporting functions to enable others to test functionality.
  • Drive opportunities and lead efforts to improve existing test infrastructure or create new test infrastructure to increase efficiency and productivity in test case development, scheduling, or deployment.
  • Code in Python/Go-Lang/Scripting languages.
  • Develop test plans based on Product Excellence/test strategies.
  • Lead test plan reviews with engineers and other stakeholders across teams.
 
We’re looking for a teammate with:
 
  • Overall 7+ years of experience with a minimum of 5 years of automation testing experience, preferably in product development teams, with proficiency in automation testing.
  • Experience developing test automation solutions and automated internal frameworks or working on engineering productivity tools and frameworks.
  • Experience building test automation frameworks and tools.
  • Experience with software development in one or more general purpose programming languages is highly preferred.
  • Experience in coding in Python language related to providing solutions in Data Science is a plus.
  • Experience working with CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience in exploratory, risk-based, integration, and regression testing of software products. Good understanding of software architecture, experience with cloud service providers (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), and familiarity with Agile methodology.
  • Knowledge about JavaScript/Go-Lang/NodeJS code to troubleshoot, experience in automating functional and integration test cases.
  • Familiarity with Micro Services, container technologies like Docker, Linux, Windows is a plus.
  • Strong sense of responsibility, initiative, and ability to lead on new tasks, guiding team members for optimal performance.
  • Ability to learn, work with, and apply multiple technologies to solve real customer problems, staying updated with best practices in testing. Strong communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work across geographically dispersed teams.
