Job Description

Please note: We strongly prefer candidates in the Boston area, as our team operates in a hybrid capacity by coming into the office together once a week. We are open to fully remote for the right candidate. 

We are looking for a highly motivated, hands-on Senior Revenue Accountant to join the Finance and Accounting department reporting to the Director, Global Controller. The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge and excellent communication skills. In this position, the candidate will oversee the recognition of revenue to ensure proper statement and consistent interpretation and compliant application of US GAAP and Company policy. The candidate will support back end operations for revenue transactions, such as billings, collections and commissions, while also providing business analysis and internal reporting for Senior Management.

As a Senior Revenue Accountant at Tomorrow.io, You will:

  • Ensure revenue recognition for the Company’s various revenue streams (SaaS, Government Professional Services, B2C) are in accordance with the company’s policy and revenue recognition accounting standard ASC 606
  • Interact with Legal, Rev Ops, Sales and FP&A on projects, deal structuring, deal approvals, go-to-market strategies, contract negotiation
  • Provide contract review summaries for non-standard complex transactions (for internal and audit purposes)
  • Own the billing and collections process, communicating with customers on past due balances, tracking DSOs and working with FP&A to forecast cash balances
  • Take ownership of drafting annual commissions plans and commission amortization expense while working closely with revenue operations on ensure accurate calculation of commissions payments using CaptivateIQ was has already been rolled out
  • Work closely with the government project management and compliance teams to track time incurred on professional service engagements, ensure appropriate recording of COGs and provide necessary compliance reporting
  • Assist with month end close and financial audits including reconciliations, support documentation, and communication with external auditors
  • Perform ad hoc finance projects at direction of Global Controller and CFO 

What you bring: 

  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting and/or Finance
  • 2-4 years minimum Public Accounting experience
  • Must have an advanced knowledge of Excel
  • Ability to problem solve, both from an accounting and system perspective
  • Ability to work independently but also be a team player in a dynamic environment
  • Strong communication, time management and interpersonal skills
  • Experienced with NetSuite, CaptivateIQ and Salesforce.com
  • Bonus: Government contract experience and/or familiarity with job costing reporting

The anticipated base salary hiring range for this position is $90,000 - $120,000
