About you

About this role

The Senior Revenue Accountant role is an extremely exciting and unique one at Udemy! The role reports directly to the Senior Accounting Manager and will be a key decision maker and influencer as Udemy matures its processes as a high growth public company! This position will be hands-on, developing best in class consumer revenue policies and processes and tightening up the close timetable. Interaction and coordination with colleagues in SOX, Tax, FP&A, Engineering, Business Systems and various other departments across the Company to ensure proper accounting treatment and accurate financial results.

What you'll be doing: 
  • Perform monthly global consumer revenue close, ensuring accurate results are delivered on time for reporting in accordance with US GAAP including preparing journal entries and account reconciliations of global revenue, deferred revenue, sales allowance, etc.
  • Collaborate with the SOX team to ensure a robust and effective controls environment. Continuous improvement is a must!
  • Partner with internal teams as well as engineering and business partners to define, establish and implement accounting systems, processes and procedures with a goal of automation and developing best in class processes.
  • Support external audit requirements on a quarterly and annual basis
  • Review of monthly reporting and perform variance analysis and investigate differences; support the FP&A team on explaining results
  • Prepare quarterly and annual PCAOB compliant footnote disclosures related to direct to consumer revenue.
What you’ll have
  • Bachelor of Science in Accounting or Finance
  • Certified Public Accountant preferred
  • Minimum 4 years’ professional experience in revenue accounting with a Big 4 accounting firm combined with industry experience at a top tier company (Tech and/or public company preferred)
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and experience analyzing high volume, multi-currency transactions in a global business environment
  • Highly detail-oriented with excellent time management, prioritization and organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical skills, efficient, self-motivated with the ability to follow through and implement process improvement.
