Abbott Rapid Diagnostics is part of Abbott's Diagnostics family of businesses, bringing together exceptional teams of experts and industry leading technologies to support diagnostic testing which provides important information for treatment and management of diseases and other conditions. We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Scientist within our Cardiometabolic & Informatics business unit in Pomona! The scope of this position is responsible in leading complex, long-duration projects, product improvements, investigations and resolve technical issues in coordination with all departments . This job description will be reviewed periodically and is subject to change by management.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• A seasoned scientist that can work independently under minimal supervision in product improvement and root cause analysis techniques.• Troubleshoot any technical issues in the manufacturing of competitive lateral flow devices, in support of departmental projects and site objectives.• Develop and execute complex, robust experiments to be performed individually, for junior staff, and other departments as necessary.• Participate as an integral member of the technical staff on site in development of strategies and methodologies.

Pay Range: $100,000-130,000

Senior Scientist Technical Support Feb 2023• Perform or support test and process method modifications, considering CQAs, critical process parameters and analytical performance characteristics.• Able to lead multiple projects simultaneously, ensure deliverables are met on time, and manage multiple project teams.• Work closely with management in product improvement, process improvement, and streamlining processes.• Research (through literature review) and implement innovated methods for formulation and production to resolve technical issues.• Coordinate and supervise junior staff to assign experiments, review results, and draw conclusions.• Train junior staff and all levels of personnel on any new techniques or methods to be implemented.• Maintain clear and accurate records of experiments in a laboratory notebook.• Write complex study protocols and reports, that show a clear understanding of objectives, execution, data analysis, and conclusions.• Generate and present projects, both in depth and high level, depending on requirements or audience.• Present complex technical information to internal and external groups.• Operate lab equipment and conduct tasks in a safe manner, adhering to established guidelines and applicable regulations.• Transfer improved processes to the Manufacturing Team.• Write and revise process document reports and transfer protocols.• Ability to work with SOPs and Batch Records.• Knowledgeable of federal and other regulations, e.g. QSR's, ISO, and FDA.• Demonstrate commitment to the development, implementation and effectiveness of the Abbott Quality Management System per ISO, FDA, and other regulatory agencies.• Understands and is aware of the quality and business consequences which may occur from the improper performance of their specific job. Has awareness of device defects that may occurring their area of responsibility, including product design, verification and validation, manufacturing and testing activities.• Responsible for exhibiting professional behavior with both internal/external business associates that reflects positively on the company and is consistent with the company's policies and practices.• Perform other duties & projects as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS | EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

• A minimum of 8+ years (BA/BS), 5+ years (MS) or 3+ years (PhD) in biological science, or related discipline with laboratory work directly applicable to duties.

• Ability to solve challenging problems and deal with a variety of topics in complex situations.

• Demonstrated skills in carrying out innovative research with minimal guidance in an accurate and effective manner.

• Able to work with a variety of people on multiple tasks and functionally direct junior staff

• Excellent presentation, written, and verbal communication skills.

• Strong computer skills with MS Office applications, QMS, ERP, and statistical software.

• Strong technical writing skills.

• Strong statistical skills are required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Able to be flexible with changing priorities.

• Able to work effectively individually and in groups.

• Equipment validation experience is desired.

• Six Sigma and Green Belt training is a plus.

• Relevant work experience will include project leadership, planning, and execution.

The salary for this role is between:

$82,100 - $164,100
