Senior Software Engineer

As a part of the ImPaCT organization, the Product Release and Security Services (PRSS) team is responsible for foundational services to the Microsoft software and hardware supply chains. Services to name a few - PKI certificate management, Code signing, scanning for malware, product distribution, and licensing. The PRSS Secure Topology team (Network, Security+, and Storage) is continually designing, automating, and improving the security and availability of the highly secure environments hosting mission critical services. We are looking for exceptional (Senior) Software Engineers to help design, automate, deploy, monitor, and operate our highly Secure Environments.
In 2024 we will be deploying a new secure datacenter in the Phoenix area. You will be a key contributor/leader in bringing a new secure DC to life from the ground up. Between now and 2024 you will travel to Redmond once a month for training and onsite work near Redmond Washington.Responsibilities• Design, build, maintain and operate services with high traffic, high resiliency with millions of requests across multiple global regions• Create a north star vision, design, and implement the next generation of Platform infrastructure that is highly performant, resilient, modular, meets reliability targets, includes observability, and that enables next gen experiences.• Continually seek deeper insights into the performance, scalability, maintainability of our systems• Partner with network, security, storage, and compute peers to design highly secure and available private cloud solutions.• Improve service reliability, performance, and latencies by reducing mean time to recovery (MTTR)• Drive long-term design thinking for systems and engineering processes with simplicity and maintainability as core tenets• Mentor and develop engineers across all levels through sharing and learning • Lead technical projects and model the culture of the team • Learn from and collaborate with external developers to find issues, understand scenarios, and empower them to delight PRSS, Microsoft customers. • Deploy and operate secure environments with services such Active Directory, DNS, WSUS, IPsec, 2FA Implementations etc.• Responding to and mitigating any live site issues impacting customersQualificationsRequired Qualifications:
• BSc/MSc in Computer Science or a related field• 7+ years of experience in core software engineering building distributed systems• 3+ years of experience developing and operating cloud services• Strong troubleshooting (debugging) and performance tuning skills.• Ability to take projects from beginning to end with little direct supervision.• Excellent teamwork and coordination skills with ability to create clarity from ambiguity• Actively mentor other engineers and show them how to go about things
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in Cyber Security Research and Implementation• One or more related certifications such as CISSP, GSEC, ISSAP, or GCIA• Experience administering Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, and Imaging Automation• PKI/Cryptography/Certificate Management experience• Working familiarity with networking protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP) and network architectures• Experience with running secure datacenters and services is a plus
