The position of Senior Software Engineer, DevOps is within our IDDM R&D Platforms business unit located in San Diego, California. This role will support the design and development cloud solutions supporting our next generation of portable diagnostics platforms. In this position the candidate will be responsible for building the software deployment solution, monitoring of cloud

services and development of cloud tools supporting DevOps. The right candidate for this position will be an experienced engineer who has demonstrated success performing DevOps activities in public cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, etc.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Build and maintain solutions for cloud designs that support software deployment for diagnostic instruments
• Support solutions that leverage cybersecurity strategies and implement cybersecurity features for secure connectivity to the cloud from IoT devices
• Develop and implement processes and tools that support the deployment of software releases to the cloud, and support big data solutions.
• Provide level of effort estimates to support planning activities.
• Fix defects found during implementation process or reported by the software test team.
• Support software process definition and improvement initiatives. Support release process.
• Demonstrate commitment to the development, implementation and effectiveness of Alere Quality Management System per ISO, FDA, and other regulatory agencies.
• Understand and recognize the quality consequences which may occur from the improper performance of their specific job; has awareness of device defects that may occur in their area of responsibility, including product design, verification and validation, manufacturing and testing activities
• Exhibit professional behavior with both internal/external business associates that reflects positively on the company and is consistent with the company's policies and practices; build productive internal/external working relationships
• Carry out duties in compliance with established business policies
• Other duties as assigned, according to the changing needs of the business

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU'LL BRING

Required

• Bachelor of Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, EE or equivalent.
• 7+ years of related work experience; 5+ years of experience in DevOps supporting cloud solutions.
• Deep cloud domain expertise in: architecture, technologies, infrastructure automation, data security and privacy, tools, and testing
• Excellent programming skills in Python, JavaScript, C#, or Ruby
• Experience with Service Oriented Architecture, virtualization
• Experience in cloud services: SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS
• Experience developing software in various cloud environments, cloud storage
• Experience in big data solutions

Preferred

• Preferred Advanced Degree (Masters) in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, EE or equivalent
• Azure or AWS Certification such as a DevOps Engineer Professional, Solutions Architect Expert, Azure Fundamentals, data scientist, etc.
• Experience with secure coding best practices and methodologies, vulnerability scans, threat modeling, and cyber-risk assessments.
• Experience with design and implementation of high-availability systems: hot spare/failover mechanisms, load balancers, microservice architectures, distributed systems, stateless communication protocols, scalable data stores
• Familiarity with operational support of a high-availability system, including data and performance metrics, techniques for identifying anomalous behavior, defining alert conditions
• Experience with implementation and integration of network features, network interfaces, REST API's, and interface protocols
• Experience with POCT1-A and HL7 network communication protocols, and integration of systems using these protocols.
• Experience with PKI, SSL, TLS, HTTPS, SSH and secure memory management.
• Able to take complex designs from concept to implementation with minimal supervision.
