Microsoft's Cloud business is experiencing explosive growth, and the Capacity, Supply Chain & Provisioning (CSCP) organization is responsible for enabling the infrastructure underlying this growth. Our mission is to deliver the world's computer with an industry-leading supply chain. CSCP is responsible for strategic sourcing, customer demand forecasting, capacity planning and management, supply chain planning and execution, capacity provisioning, and decommissioning and dispositioning of datacenter assets worldwide.
The Digital Enablement and Innovation group builds and maintains the platform that delivers accessible data to power real time decision-making for the CSCP organization. We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer. In this role, you will be building an intelligent data-driven, near real time supply chain data processing platform that provides end to end visibility into Capacity Planning, Supply Chain, and infrastructure deployment. You will use latest technologies like Synapse, Spark and more to provides insights into potential risks, build frameworks that help in identifying root causes and proactively suggest remediation plan that will help in continuous optimization, cost savings, and improve profitability in Azure Capacity management and planning.
This is a hands-on Senior Software Engineer role that defines, builds, tests, and deploys high-quality platform capabilities & features that will support reusability, perform at scale, be supportable, and be extensible. You will work with a team of competent engineers and apply system thinking to solve complex technology challenges at the enterprise level, as well as provide platform services for other delivery teams.
Responsibilities:
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer who will ideally will possess a combination of software engineering, cloud-based service/data engineering, and demonstrated business acumen skills that will help them be successful in the role. The successful candidate will work in lockstep with Software Engineers, Data scientists, Business analysts, Product Managers, and other stakeholders across the organization. In addition, your responsibility will include the following:
- Design and develop Data and/or Microservice platforms that will enable insights to analyze and measure the rhythm of business
- Drive architectural design across the engineering team using Microsoft's latest software and services and/or 3rd party or open-source software as appropriate to drive operational excellence on a fast-growing, highly technical team
- Developing Extract Transform & Load (ETL) platform and framework to acquire and integrate data from diverse sources like Azure Data Lake, Kusto, SQL Server, Cosmos, flat files etc
- Recognize and adopt best engineering practices in reporting, data integrity, test design, analysis, validation, and documentation
- You will partner and collaborate with engineering groups, business stakeholders to predict Supply Chain and Deployment Milestones and identify risks that will help in proactive mitigation and smooth deployment.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR equivalent experience.
- 4+ years of experience as a Software Engineer with programming experience in at least 3 of the following : Microservices, Python, SQL, C#, Java or related fields.
Other Requirements
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications
- Masters in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field
- Ability to understand complex distributed systems and to know your way around them
- Optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability
- Demonstrated ability to work efficiently, prioritize workflow, and meet demanding deadlines
- Proven ability to deal with ambiguity and drive for clarity
- Design and develop front-end, middle-tier, and back-end applications
- Hands on experience building and maintaining REST microservices (Kubernetes) using NoSQL, Redis, SQL Server or equivalent
- Implementation of low-latency, high-availability, and high-performing applications
- Demonstrated coding, debugging and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills, methodical and technical judgment
- Demonstrated organization skills, a bias for action, and ability to deliver results
- Additional experience with data technologies like Azure Data Explorer (Kusto), Databricks, Azure HDInsight, Azure Data Lake, Data Factories, Hadoop, or Spark
Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $112,000 - $218,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $145,800 - $238,600 per year.
