The Opportunity:

Our Diagnostics business currently has an opportunity for a Senior Software Engineer.

This Senior Software Engineer is based on-site at our Irving, TX office.

The primary functions of this position are designing and developing Embedded/Firmware code, unit tests and integration tests for a feature of a system.

What You'll Work On:

• May conduct design analysis on components and/or assemblies to assist in the development process by ensuring designs are cost efficient, manufacturable, and reliable.

• Communicates with the other engineering personnel to coordinate the interrelated design and assure project completion.

• May act as internal consultant providing technical guidance on most complex projects.

• This is a non-supervisory position.

• Leads and is accountable for the engineering design and implementation for one or more software features in the System.

• Defines code-level application programming interfaces and strategies for unit testing, integration testing and performance testing for one or more features.

• Serves as the technical subject matter expert for one or more features, identifying process issues and recommending corrective measures.

• Defines feature evolution, branching, integration and deployment strategy. Defines structure of the source code files for one or more features. Ensures successful integration of one or more features in the continuous integration environment.

• Reviews testing strategy and test protocols for one or more features. Implements hardware/interface simulation for one or more features.

• Analyzes user needs, product requirements, software requirements and provides input to System Engineer and other stakeholders. Assesses areas impacted by new feature requests and determines approach to accommodate new capabilities.

• Provides effort estimates for software functionality. Plans, conducts, and technically directs projects or sub-systems of significant projects. Assesses areas impacted by new feature requests and determine approach to accommodate new capabilities.

• Develops High Level Design for entire software application, which includes ability to assign capabilities to components, negotiate interactions between components, and identify and resolve component interaction issues. Review at the feature-level.

Required Qualifications:

Education

  • Master's Degree with 4+ years of related experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree with 6+ years of related experience.

Experience

  • Advanced experience in designing and developing complex software systems.
  • Ability to provide guidance to junior team members.
  • Advanced knowledge in modern programming languages such as C/C++/C# or Python & agile methodologies.
  • Advanced level of understanding of test-driven methodologies.
  • Advanced level of knowledge with continuous integration & continuous development (CI/CD).
  • Demonstrated success in technical proficiency, creativity, and independent thought.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to develop & design at the component-level.
  • Advanced level understanding of design patterns.
  • Strong analytical & problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize responsibilities.

Preferred / Ideal Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of software design patterns
  • Experience with modern C++ (C++17 / C++20)
  • Experience with multithreading and performance optimization
  • Experience with real-time OS (QNX or Linux)
  • Experience with OpenCV library
  • Experience with C++ build systems and toolchains
  • Experience with agile software development methodologies
