Senior Software Engineer

The Commerce Financial Services team, under Cloud + AI , delivers core services at scale that power large scale commerce across Microsoft. Our mission is to provide the richest commerce capabilities that enables growth for Microsoft through business model innovations.
We need your help! We're building a brand new, green field suite of services to handle Microsoft-scale traffic across the world and need senior software engineers that are looking to use modern technologies like .NET 6, AKS, and anything Azure to help us achieve this mission!

If this sounds like you, we want to hear from you right away!ResponsibilitiesThis is an extremely important position that has direct impact to Microsoft's cloud revenue and customers' satisfaction. You will be empowered to envision, design, code, ship and analyze Microsoft's key financial platform features, with as much or as little guidance as you need. You will have the opportunity to work with a wide variety of people across the company, giving you wide exposure and a broad technical surface area.

• Develops design documents for designs or user stories, and determines the technology that will be leveraged and how it will interact. Assures system architecture meets security and compliance requirements and expectations. Partially owns solutions for architecting of solutions, with minimal technical oversight.
• Leads by example within the team by producing extensible and maintainable code. Optimizes, debugs, refactors, and reuses code to improve performance and maintainability, effectiveness, and return on investment (ROI).
• Maintains operations of live service as issues arise on a rotational, on-call basis. Implements solutions and mitigations to more complex issues impacting performance or functionality of Live Site service and escalates as necessary.
• Builds, enhances, reuses, contributes to, and identifies new software developer tools to support other programs and applications to create, debug, and maintain code for products.
• Drives comprehensive application of automation within production and deployment of a product.

QualificationsRequired Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C#, Java, or an equivalent OOP programming language.
  • OR equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C#, Java, or an equivalent OOP programming language.
• Experience in developing scalable services on AWS, Azure, GCP, or other cloud providers.

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

• Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
