Collins Aerospace is currently seeking qualified candidates for software engineering roles in our Business & Regional Avionics Flight Management Applications department located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Teams are composed of cross-functional engineers working in an AGILE environment (approximately 6-10 people) focused on the design and development of software-only products. The position is located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa but remote options will be considered for US based candidates. A comprehensive relocation package is available for those who need to relocate to the Cedar Rapids area.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Employees have equal opportunities on technical and project management tracks.
  • Lead a cross-functional team daily and coordinating regularly with engineering and project management to ensure success of the product and program
  • Includes managing aspects of quality, cost, schedule, and scope while navigating the various team dynamics present
  • Manages work-processes, optimization methods, and risk management tools for large or complex projects.
  • Will be involved in feature development tasks, including design implementation plans, software requirements, software level integration testing
  • Provides analysis for the decomposition of customer specifications and software level requirements into sub-system and piece part requirements, and makes recommendations for the generation of verification criteria and plans for the requirements.
  • May be involved in researching, evaluating and recommending investments or changes in technology, resources, procedures, equipment, systems, or other assets to improve the quality of the organization's systems products and services.
  • Will be involved in mentoring and training engineers on the team

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree (Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and 5 years of prior relevant experience OR
  • Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience OR
  • In absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required
  • Must have experience with full life cycle software engineering processes
  • Must have project management or some experience leading teams
  • Willingness to travel (domestic and international < 20%)

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Aerospace industry experience
  • DO-178 or similar certification based development experience
  • AGILE development experience
