Our team is part of the Customer Empowerment Engineering group within the Edge Technology organization. Our team develops globally managed services that support our internal customers by distributing configuration changes quickly and safely throughout the network. This 'behind-the-scenes' team is in charge of developing, testing and supporting this highly available system. We serve numerous internal clients and collaborate with a variety of teams responsible for downstream systems.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be responsible for:

• Creating new features from scratch, enhancing existing features and optimizing functionality
• Partnering with various teams to build features that expands the system's capability and performance
• Working in all stages of software engineering, from concept to design to coding, testing, documentation and deployment
• Solving complex problems in a timely manner, improving testability, supporting deployment, monitorability, and maintainability of our software
• Working in a cross-functional team environment where quality and availability are key capabilities

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:

• Have 5 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, related field or equivalent
• Experience in developing and maintaining mission critical distributed systems in a Linux environment
• Possess expert knowledge and experience developing and testing software applications on a Linux environment
• Be proficient in Object-Oriented programming and test-driven development using Python, or other high-level languages
• Experience working with common technologies including networking protocols, databases, microservices and container based architectures
• Have excellent analytical, problem solving and debugging skills
• Possess good communication skills, be self-driven, positive and an effective team player

Compensation

Akamai is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The base salary for this position ranges from $113,430 - $170,043/year; a candidate's salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of annual bonus or incentives, equity awards and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP).
