Senior Software Engineer (remote)

Location: This position is remote (eastern US preferred)

We are looking for a senior level software engineer who will be part of a new team and at the applications architect level, reporting into the Senior Solutions Architect. The Senior Software Engineer is responsible for developing software in a collaborative environment employing Agile development methodologies.

Position Overview:

• Evaluate, recommend, and implement POCs of new tools and technologies
• Design and implement shared reusable architectural components and frameworks using AWS technologies
• Work closely with the scum teams to implement and use new technologies and frameworks
• Provide Subject Matter Expertise in Cloud and application architecture best practices and standards
• Maintain appropriate architectural/design documentation
• Stay abreast of current and emerging technologies and trends related to cloud and architecture
• Work with delivery managers and scrum masters to help determine work estimates and scope.

About the Team:

We accelerate libraries' impact of the world by helping libraries provide better experiences to their communities across the globe. Reporting to the senior solutions architect, the team here is responsible for evaluating newer technologies and solutions, performing proof of concepts, and working closely with SCRUM teams for implementing these technologies and solutions.

About You - Experience, education, and accomplishments

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or similar field.
• 5+ years hands-on experience and very strong expertise in AWS technologies
• 5+ years hands-on experience and very strong expertise in Cloud Native, Serverless (AWS Lambda), and Micro-services design patterns
• Experience with asynchronous messaging or streaming technologies such as Kafka, SQS, SNS, or Kinesis
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in delivering multi-tier web based applications
• 5+ Experience with Java or Node.js
• 3+ Experience working as part of an agile delivery team
• Deep understanding of industry patterns of applications architecture and integration
• A good understanding of network and cloud infrastructure
• Good experience with applications architecture

It would be great if you also had

• Master's degree preferred
• Experience with Amazon Pinpoint
• Experience with machine learning and analytics is preferred
• AWS developer certification is a plus
• Experience with Docker
• Experience with Spring Boot and Spring Cloud

Hours of Work 40-hours per week, permanent full-time position
