Senior Software Engineer, Visualization and Tooling

Mission Summary

The Runtime Infrastructure team is building visualization tooling. We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer that will lead the technical vision, design, and implementation for our visualization tooling, enabling teams across the Motional’s Autonomous Vehicle system to visualize data for both run-time and offline use. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will work with the team to design and implement tooling to enable a high degree of monitoring and diagnostics on our vehicles that makes them safe and performant. You will have the ability to identify and lead efforts across the company to monitor and improve visualization and tooling in the pursuit of building a performant autonomous vehicle.

The Motional Pittsburgh office is located in the new Hazelwood Green development, a culmination of the city’s goal of restoring an economic driver to the neighborhood in a thoughtful, inclusive, and sustainable way. With views along the Monongahela river, the Pittsburgh office is in the heart of this new state of the art development.

What you'll be doing: 

• Use your expertise and experience to lead and build the future of our visualization tooling.
• Contribute to designs and work together with specialized Motional teams to determine the needs of the system and how to best meet those needs within a distributed system.
• Produce a large amount of high-quality code to establish a new set of tools from scratch.
• Work across the organization to set priorities and accomplish Motional’s goal of offering a world-class robotaxi, which is safe and built for everyone.

What we're looking for:

• You have experience developing performant and well tested C++ and C code.
• You have experience visualizing latency, performance, failures, or similar data.
• You are passionate about building robust distributed software.
• You care about holding yourself and your teammates to a high standard of development.
