Location
Our Diagnostics Business has an opportunity for a Senior Software Systems Engineer to develop software for automated IVD systems for processing assays. This individual will participate in a team-oriented environment to define software requirements for the business logic, user interface, data management, and embedded system control applications. The role requires the ability to estimate workloads, plan and review software work products and documentation, and interface effectively with both technical and non-technical personnel across the Transfusion Business Unit.
This position can be based in our Irving, TX office.
What You'll Do
- Responsible for implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the quality system.
- Lead cross functional feature teams to analyze and define new product software and system features and capabilities
- Decompose Product Requirements and new capability definitions from feature teams into software requirements that are clear, unambiguous, and testable.
- Participate in Product risk identification and definition of control measures with tracing to appropriate software requirements
- Perform risk assessments for all identified software defects
- Assist in the development of customer communication letters, online help documentation for the software, technical documentation for regulatory submissions, and other software product release related material and documents
- Assess newly identified software defect records or change requests for validity and prioritize software fixes/changes for implementation in a software release or closure as appropriate
Education And Experience You'll Bring
Required
- B.S. in Computer Science or similar engineering discipline including Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Biomedical Engineering is required. Associates Degree is acceptable with a minimum of 10 years professional experience in a related job function.
- 5-7 years experience covering the entire software lifecycle in a team-oriented environment.
- Ability to work in an IVD regulated software environment for computer-controlled instrumentation.
- An individual contributor in this position may travel occasionally within the U.S or abroad as required per project assignment
Preferred
- 8+ years of software development experience, preferably in a regulated industry is strongly preferred
- Experience with Agile Software Development Methodologies.
- Experience in DOORS or similar requirements management tools.
- Experience in Atlassian suite - JIRA and Confluence.
- Good understanding of software development lifecycle and change management process
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated ability to set and meet tight deadlines and function well under pressure.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
