Senior Staff Engineer, ESD, Technology Platforms

Job Summary

The Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) Engineer will be responsible for full-custom ESD circuit design, implementation, and test for RF, mmWave, and PMIC products. In this highly visible role, you will work with our ESD team and the product design groups to have a major impact on pSemi product development. Additionally, you will be exposed to a wide variety of process technologies while working closely with our Process Technology team on UltraCMOS® SOI-CMOS development and using off-the-shelf PDKs from leading foundries.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Design and prototyping of ESD circuits & devices in SOI/bulk CMOS and BCD technologies
• Measurement, characterization, and qualification of ESD structures
• Implementation, review, and test of ESD protection at the product level
• Drive ESD roadmap and continuous improvements
• Drive RMA and FA debug efforts
• Manage internal ESD test equipment and improvements in test capability

Minimum Qualifications

• Capable of taking a novel ESD structure from concept through layout using Cadence tools
• Experience with design and prototyping ESD circuits & devices for high volume production CMOS (bulk or SOI)
• Knowledge of IC fabrication and how this impacts circuit performance
• Clear understanding of the physics behind common ESD protection structures and strategies found in IO libraries, typical digital, analog, and mixed signal solutions
• Experience with lab equipment, including ESD testers, and able to manage/maintain internal ESD equipment
• Hands on use of TLP systems to characterize and qualify ESD structures
• Strong sense of urgency to meet product requirements on schedule
• Team player, able to work effectively within ESD team and cross functionally

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with RFIC products and applications
• Experience in SOI and Power processes (BCD)
• Software tools: Cadence, Mentor PERC, Silicon Frontline ESRA

Education & Experience Requirements

• BSEE and 12 years' experience
• MSEE and 8 years' experience (preferred)
