We are seeking a Senior Tax Manager who is ready to take our tax game to the next level. Your main responsibility will be to lead all aspects of our tax strategy, including compliance, reporting, and planning.

- Manage the full life cycle of the preparation and filing of all federal, state, and international tax returns, in collaboration with our 3rd party tax consultants
- Handle all international tax compliance and reporting, including foreign tax credits and tax treaties
- Evaluate Expel’s overall tax structure and the ideal future state of the Company’s operations in order to figure out the optimal structure for the organization
- Streamline the quarterly and annual tax provision in accordance with ASC 740, including, developing a policy and process around preparing quarterly tax provision in consultation with our third party tax providers
- Develop and manage relationships with tax authorities, consultants, and other external partners
- Lead required tax studies, including the R&D tax credit study, SEC 382 study (when applicable), 409a valuation, and other exercises as required
- Monitor and analyze changes in tax laws and regulations, and communicate potential impacts to the leadership team
- Support reporting and compliance of business taxes: Sales/Use Tax, VAT and other indirect taxes, B&O, Property Tax, etc
- Act as a key point of contact for our external auditors at it relates to tax; coordinate and assist in driving the execution of year end audit procedures and requests throughout the year
- Balance the non-standard stuff that surprises you and strive to get ahead of it
- Ability to translate tax jargon into accessible concepts for all audiences
- High emotional intelligence, ability to build and sustain relationships at multiple levels within and outside of the Finance org
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills; able to maintain accuracy in work products and multi-task in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, manage competing priorities, and adhere to tight deadlines
- Comprehensive understanding of accounting principles, financial statements, and internal controls, inclusive of disclosure requirements for a publicly traded SEC registrant with an international footprint
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 8+ years of experience in tax compliance and corporate tax planning, with experience in international tax highly preferred
- CPA certification required
The base salary range for this role is between $138,800 USD and $190,000 USD + bonus eligibility and equity.
We believe in paying transparently and equitably. Your salary will ultimately be based on factors such as your experience, skills, team equity, and market data. You’ll also be eligible for unlimited PTO (which we model and encourage), work location flexibility, up to 24 weeks of parental leave, and really excellent health benefits.
