Mountaintop is a new game studio creating multiplayer games for players that crave a challenge. We’re an independent, remote-first studio primarily located in the US and Canada.

We’re creating the types of games that bring people together — and keep them together for “just one more round.” The types of games that inspired us as kids. The games that become our hobbies, and sometimes our obsessions.

THE ROLE

We’re looking for a Senior Technical Game Designer who’s passionate about building extraordinary new experiences that inspire others. Technical Designers are crucial for designing, implementing, and balancing equipment kits within our game; You’ll play a crucial role in bringing our first title to life. 

YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

• Conceptualize and design creative equipment concepts, ensuring they are fully realized and playable within the game environment.
•  Design and balance gameplay mechanics associated with equipment kits, ensuring that they provide meaningful choices for players and contribute to a satisfying gameplay experience.
• Prepare comprehensive design documentation, including specifications, guidelines, and technical requirements for equipment kits, to ensure clear communication and consistency among team members.
• Create prototypes of equipment designs, allowing for iterative refinement based on playtesting feedback and gameplay requirements.
• Gather feedback from playtests and stakeholders, incorporating suggestions and making necessary adjustments to equipment designs to enhance player experience.
• Provide oversight of equipment features throughout the development cycle, ensuring they are implemented successfully from inception to completion.

ABOUT YOU

• A love for playing and making amazing games
• Experience creating prototypes via programming and/or scripting (e.g. Lua, Squirrel, C#, Javascript)
• A minimum of 4 years design experience, including at least one shipped title
• Self-motivated and eager to contribute in many different areas of development
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

PLUSES

• Experience working with Unreal Engine 4
• Experience supporting a live service title
• Experience working on networked games
• Computer science, engineering, mathematics, or related degree
