WSP is expanding our office in Kansas City, MO! We're searching for an energetic Senior Traffic & ITS Engineer to lead innovative solutions for our clients. You will be a key influencer for developing and implementing strategies to grow our ITS practice in Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, and Minnesota. In addition to the current Traffic Engineering contracts underway in our Kansas City, MO office, you will also have access to our national and international expertise and the support from our local offices leaders. You will be responsible for supporting our local clients through the delivery of quality projects and be a key contributor to supporting business relationships.

Your Impact• Serve as a project manager, deputy project manager or task lead for ITS-related projects• Work on a variety of ITS, traffic engineering, or other technology related projects as a technical expert• In addition to project work, focus on business development, marketing, and project pursuits that will help to further strengthen our presence in our Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa and Oklahoma markets• Rely upon ITS engineering background to excel at client relations, business development and mentoring staff• Support business development strategies to be a top innovative ITS solutions firm in the area• A typical day may include supervising staff (future), supervising project management tasks, traffic engineering, performing a variety of project related functions, coordinating and collaborating with colleagues around the country, meeting with clients and stakeholders, and providing oversight and/or management of the proposal preparation process.• Mentor staff in their technical and professional development

Who You Are

Required Qualifications• Desire to bring innovative solutions to our clients• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to present analytical results and recommendations• Self-starter, proactive• Ability to work effectively in multi-disciplinary project teams across offices• Engineering degree preferred but not required, depending on experience• Experience in conceiving, designing, analyzing, and managing Intelligent Transportation Systems projects, including an understanding of how the systems engineering process, ITS Architecture, and systems integration issues can and do influence the deployment and operation of ITS solutions

Preferred Qualifications

• Working knowledge of Connected and Autonomous Vehicles and how they will impact the transportation system• Experience with Missouri Department of Transportation, Kansas Department of Transportation, Iowa Department of Transportation, Nebraska Department of Transportation and/or Minnesota Department of Transportation and with local County and City agencies in those states• Demonstrated ability to synthesize problems, think creatively, work independently, and deliver high quality work with minimal supervision• Minimum 10 years' experience in transportation industry
