WSP is currently initiating a search for a full-time Senior Transit Project Manager for our Orlando/Miami/Fort-Lauderdale, FL office. We have an immediate opening for a highly skilled, experienced and motivated transit planner. The Senior Transit Project Manager is expected to serve as a project manager, deputy project manager, or task manger and to assist with various types of multi-modal projects including roads, transit and rail. This position will work closely with civil, planning and environmental staff in Florida and across WSPs Transit & Rail National Business Line and the Southeast Region to research, analyze, document and present information related to various types of transportation projects. Additional key responsibilities of this position include helping to manage projects and tasks, mentoring junior staff, and building and maintaining client relationships. Some travel to client locations is anticipated.

Your Impact
  • The successful candidate must be a team player and demonstrate strong analytical, communication, collaboration, technical skills, appreciate a diverse array of project work over time, and have a demonstrated working knowledge working on roadway and/or transit project studies.
  • Assisting with project management and successfully delivering projects
  • Collecting, analyzing and interpreting analytic and written data (i.e. land use, economic, demographic, traffic/safety, natural resources, etc.)
  • Composing correspondence and reports for project activities
  • Technical writing and presentation/report preparation
  • Participating and coordinating public and stakeholder public meetings and public participation/outreach processes
  • Developing strong working relationships with clients and teaming partners
  • Managing and mentoring staff
  • Assist with preparation of scopes of work, fee proposals, and technical responses to report and plans.
  • Collaborating extensively with other business units within WSP's Southeast Region and Transit & Rail National Business Line for project delivery

Who You Are

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Transportation Planning, Civil Engineering, or closely related discipline.
  • 12+ years of relevant post education experience in engineering, prior transportation, transit and rail experience, infrastructure design and project planning/design work. Experience working in the transportation planning field, actively engaging in project planning studies, preliminary design, public involvement for a variety of client projects relating to transportation project development.
  • Experience working with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) or the Miami-Dade Department of Transportation and Public Works, or any other public agencies highly preferred.
  • Ability to effectively present and communicate ideas orally and in written form
  • Critical, strategic and creative thinking skills
  • Computer skills (i.e. MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Proficiency with technical writing, office automation and communication software, technology, and tools.
  • Ability to work independently and provide guidance and leadership to junior team or project members, with strict adherence to QA/QC.
  • Experience with Microsoft Project (mpp) software is a plus.
  • Ability to gather, organize and analyze data critically and develop supporting information and reports
  • Understanding of project administration and management
  • Possess a high level of energy, enthusiasm, and positive attitude
  • Must be a team player
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • Must be flexible to a variety of schedules to meet business needs and able to prioritize responsibilities and quickly adapt to change in a pressure work environment.

    Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Engineering is preferred.
  • Essential professional licensure/certification.
