About the role

We seek an experienced Field Project Engineer, BESS Projects to manage design changes, inspection, and testing activities at Energy Vault BESS (Battery Energy Storage System) project sites. You will collaborate with project Engineer, construction manager, customer, vendors, and consultants. As we rapidly grow and deliver on more contracts worldwide, you will help document and build scalable processes.

What you will do

  • Inspect equipment and technologies to devise solutions to address construction or commissioning challenges.
  • Inspect installation to verify its per EOR design.
  • Coordinate with Project Engineer, EOR and customer to address design issues identified during construction.
  • Supervise technicians during BESS commissioning.
  • Interface with internal (project managers, Project engineers) and external stakeholders (customer, contractors) to ensure consistent communication.
  • Review project design documents including single line drawings, communication diagrams, layouts, equipment test reports, etc.
  • Oversee testing/commissioning of the equipment (Transformer, cables, etc.) onsite.
  • Witness FAT of BOP equipment (Transformer) at supplier factory and review test reports
  • Support developing equipment specification & inspection procedures & reports.
  • Be agile and able to handle physical tasks onsite.
  • Provide constructive feedback to improve internal processes and product.

What a qualified candidate should possess

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (electrical) or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience of field engineering, preferably in the building of large power stations or PV or other utility-scale power projects
  • 1+ years of BESS or PV project experience, preferred
  • PE certification or equivalent, preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • You enjoy travel - so much that you are okay with traveling for extended periods of time. Willingness to travel domestically, up to 65% of the time.
  • Comfortable in fast-paced, rapid growth environments
