Site Reliability Engineer - (Cloud Infrastructure)

The Opportunity:

Our team is dedicated to optimizing, scaling, and fortifying the multi-cloud infrastructure resources that underpin the core commercetools services across our global environments. Leveraging Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with Terraform, GitOps through GitHub Actions and Spacelift, and secret management services like Vault, we securely automate the deployment and maintenance of our diverse cloud resources. As part of our collaborative approach, you will work closely with product teams throughout the organization, using these interactions to inform and enhance our ongoing efforts in building out a self-service IaC solution. By fostering a culture of shared knowledge and collective problem-solving, you will play a pivotal role in driving continuous enhancements and growth of our cloud environments.

Your Mission:

• Collaborate with the team in managing global cloud environments, facilitating automated cloud infrastructure deployments and maintenance
• Drive the development and implementation of scalable tools and methods for automation, while proactively accounting for drift and evaluating security best practices
• Design and execute monitoring strategies to uphold security standards and ensure optimal performance across cloud environments
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to architect, analyze, and optimize global cloud infrastructure, encouraging a collective problem-solving approach
• Participate in an on-call rotation to ensure the reliability and availability of cloud-based services, fostering a team-oriented commitment to support
• Actively contribute expertise in reliability, performance, and security aspects, while working closely with development teams on various projects as an equal peer
• Encourage knowledge sharing and skill development through pair programming and providing constructive code reviews

What you need to succeed:

• Extensive knowledge of industry-standard security practices, including CIS and Vault
• Proven experience in running production workloads across major cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure)
• Proficiency in writing and testing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) written in Terraform
• Familiarity with IaC CI/CD tools, such as Spacelift and Terraform Cloud
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and a strong understanding of the ecosystem
• Demonstrated analytical mindset with expertise in root cause analysis
• Excellent time management skills, ensuring efficient project execution
• Effective written and verbal communication skills in English
• Experience working in diverse and distributed international teams
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies, enabling efficient development processes
• Proven collaboration skills and a dedication to continuous improvement

Nice to have:

• Comfortable developing automation tooling in Go
• Operational experience with Hashicorp Vault at scale
